April 2-Autism Awareness Day
On April 2nd its Autism Awareness Day. Many people are changing their light bulbs to blue, so when someone see it and asks why they are blue they can spread the word. I don't see why my light bulbs need to be blue to spread the word or even why I'd need to wait until April 2nd. Everyday is Autism Awareness Day for us. Every day we're aware of something else that's going on. April is Autism Awareness month. Autism Awareness month in our home is every month. There isn't a day I don't wonder why we must fight so hard for insurance companies to cover treatment, why we must demand and demand research because there are so many skeptics who don't think it exists and needs funding. So I'll follow the masses and I'll make my light outside my door blue, but I'll do it today and I'll do it everyday. I'll get a bumper sticker and a tshirt and a magnet and a sticker. I'll tell everyone about autism and I'll raise money and I'll walk. Because there isn't just one day or one month that my child is Autistic, its every day and every hour and every minute of every month and every year. He is the most wonderful, loving, and handsome child ever. I would do anything and I will continue to everything I can to make sure he gets the best education and has the most 'normal' life possible, whatever that means, and make sure he continues to smile and laugh no matter what.
