Part of our financial trouble comes from the fact that my husband recently graduated from school, and because of that, we had to move out of campus married housing and he had to quit his on campus job. So not only did our income drop by a few hundred a month, but our finances increased for having to pay rent. And graduating is expensive!! I had no idea! We had a lot of extra expenses just as he finished, such as licensing board expenses (his particular field requires licensing) and other expenses. Now we are paying the rent and utilities and small payments on a couple credit cards, while the other credit cards are . . . well, we're getting a lot more phone calls than we used to. I know, credit cards are awful, but for a long time we were broke and stupid, living mostly off credit cards while we were in undergrad, and now we are broke and smart, but have never had the ability to pay more than minimum as yet, and now, we are getting behind. And of course, they all want to make "payment plans" and other such things, but when we are $400 overdrawn after the rent check comes out, well, there's no room for "payment plans." If I could afford to paying them, I would be!!
