...and we are engaged!

So, I decided to start a journal as I plan my wedding. Orginally I thought I'd start a blog of sorts that my family and friends could read and keep up to date how planning is going, etc. The more I thought about it I realized there are times I am going to need an outlet to bitch about my fiance, family, planning, friends, life, etc. and an open blog that I sent to my friends and family might not be a good idea- but I do want to capture the planning process and this amazing time in my life. After some searching, I decided Bloop Diary was the best place to house this.

So- a little about me and the boy, how we met, and how he proposed. I think this is a good way to kick this off!

Kate & Ryan: Kate is 25 grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and attended received her degree in Elementary Education from The University of Alabama. She loves kids so of course her job is amazing. Ryan is 31 and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He attended Auburn University and has a Master's in Accounting. He works for a large firm specializing in finance, accounting, and auditing for Fortune 500 companies.

How We Met: We met at a bar in 2007 during the weekend of the Iron Bowl (aka Alabama vs. Auburn football.) I was being harassed by some jerks from Auburn. He was a Prince and came to rescue me. We clicked and he ended up going home with me (no, nothing happened.) We were up most of the night talking and he took me to breakfast the next morning. We went on our official first date a week later and the rest is history.

How He Proposed: Ryan proposed on Saturday, February 20th. He had been out of town for work the previous week and we were having a lazy weekend. We went out to dinner that evening at one of our favorite restaurants. On the way home we picked up a bottle of wine. When we got back to his place, the entire condo was filled with Tulips (the first flowers he ever got me and my favorite) and candles (it was dark.) When we first walked in I was confused but he dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes, turned on the lights, and my parents came out from the other room. He has flown them out for that night. They heard the entire thing

So...more to come on wedding plans, gripes, complaints, advice, etc. I will work on getting this set up over the next couple of days! I can't wait to start this journey!!!
