No Mo Money ! Boy, this weekend really put a strain on our relationship. When a couple goes broke, your relationship is really tested. It's amazing the things that can happen when you're under so much stress. We are BROKE. I've been telling Doug to find a new job but he doesn't want to at all. He works for his dad's construction company and just became a foreman (which is really high up in the construction chain). He loves it and loves being in charge and now it's going to be impossible for me to make him want to quit.
You see, I love his job. He makes great money & is most of all happy doing what he does, however, He NEVER gets paid! His dad started off at first not paying him because he was his son and could get away with it then once Doug finally stood up to him his dad realized he couldn't do that anymore. So when the other guys get paid so does Doug, and his dad even promised him a raise making 22-25.00 an hour from the 16 he makes now. So I was ok with him stayin on but his dad hasn't followed through. Doug hasn't been paid in over a month and his dad said he can only pay him 18 right now. So once again we're back to square 1! It's so hard for us too because his dad is so irresponsible! Him & his girlfriend have let the house go out of groceries so we have no food, no air conditioning and we haven't been paid so we have no gas in our car either. We were stuck in the house together starving, hott & stressed. It didn't help yesterday morning when Doug woke up realizing he had no smoke & no ciggs! He was a complete douche bag & was all grouchy. I told him he can charge the debit card for under 5.00 so we don't get charged another overdraft fee and he says his ciggs cost more than that..well get something cheaper! UGH! I told him he'd have to take his dad's truck or something because I was out of gas and not sure I'd make it to the gas station & back and what does he do? Go to the gas station, buy the smoke, ciggs & gas! Charges the negative bank account another 30 dollars. He just says I gotta get over and forget about the fees but I'm trying to be responsible.. He doesn't get it & it's so annoying. I can't believe that he HAD to get smoke & ciggs.. here we are, starving and no gas but lets get stuff to smoke.. Wow! I hate addictions & I was very,VERY disappointed in him. Makes you think what is really important to him. I feel like a man should look out for his family first, make sure they're fed with a roof over their head before they should satisfy themselves, and yes although we're not technically family or have kids, I feel like he should've provided for me first, made sure I was fed & okay before he got to smoke..or maybe I'm just old school. |

I totally agree with you. Even if you aren't married he should of made sure you were good before he spent money on things that weren't a necessity. It sucks that those things are so important instead of food, gas, or ac.
