Gym orientation went well. We were showed how to use the weight machines as well as the treadmills and the exercise bikes. I have to admit something here though. I have an irrational fear of one certain type of exercise equipment.
The treadmill.
I can't help it. The thing scares the beejebus out of me. I just imagine my pants or shoelace or something getting caught in the belt and it trying to suck me under it and breaking my ankle or my leg or god forbid giving me a concussion from banging my head against the floor.
The trainer who showed us how to use the machines told me it was really safe, but I honestly think he's just paid to tell people that so they'll use the machines. I just know people have died from those things and I don't want to be a statistic.
I'm going to conquer this irrational fear of the treadmill this week. By Friday, I will be walking on one of those things. Now granted it might be at merely 1mph, but I will have my large rear end on the treadmill and I will walk on it.
A picture of me on the treadmill walking will be posted by Friday evening! I promise!!!!
*edit*
I totally forgot that while we were at the gym, trainer dude did this caloric intake thing on each of us based on our weight and his little computer program said I should intake 2482 calories a day. That's like a big number. Or at least it looks like it. I don't think it takes very long to get to that number. S'okay. I've got this. |
