Journals, Gratitude, And A Foreign Language

Ask me a question!Names And NicknamesMy Scratch profile!
FRIDAY
21st December 2012, 2.47 PM.

Здрасти! Lol, I'm not sure if I got that right but anyway, it means "Hi!" in Bulgarian. Pronounced "zdrasti". Deni taught me that. Not recently, she taught me a few months ago, so that's why I'm not sure if I got it right. I know I could've Google Translated but I wanted to test myself. And I'm using my mom's phone, of course. If you know how to download foreign keyboards on computers, please tell me!

So, I had a really scrumptious lunch just now. Mmm! Perfectly tasty! It even makes the vegetables taste good! Seriously! The only vegetables I eat are broccoli, 'sawi' and 'kang kong'. I don't know what the last two are called in English but to make it simple, they're just cooked plant leaves, I guess. Anyway, the Mee Hong Kong made the leaves taste sooo delish!

By the way, I didn't bring my Journal. Know why? 'Cause I brought another one! Well, technically, my mom did since it's her phone. But anyway, I can access my BloopJournal from there!

Well, I'm pretty glad, I must say, 'cause even though, there are only occassional comments or feedback, I know that people are reading my entries! Plus, somebody added me to her Faves. I'm not going to say who, but if she's reading this, thanks a lot!
This is my Journal, where I will pour out my views, opinions, and thoughts. If you don't agree with any of those, well, I cannot tell you what to do but I ask you to please be polite when commenting. Thank you and have a nice day. :3

Just so you know, lots of people don't keep their favs list public, so you won't know if you're on it or not (:

Can you read Cyrillic? I know the Russian alphabet, since I'm sort of trying to learn (it's on the backburner right now though, blah. lol).

Er...what's Cyrillic? And also WOW! You know the Russian alphabet? Or is it just really easy peasy? Or are you just Russian? :3

[The Dream Journalist|0 likes] [|reply]

LOL The letters you typed, of the Bulgarian word. That is the Cyrillic alphabet, of which there are slight differences between all those countries that use it, like Russian Cyrillic and Ukrainian Cyrillic etc. How did you type it if you don't know the alphabet? lol.

Well, if you study it it's not especially hard, you just match the funky symbols of the alphabet to the sounds, which for the most part are pretty straight-forward. hahaha if I were Russian I don't think I'd have to be working on learning the language d:

Oh! So...the alphabet I used isn't strictly for Bulgarian language only? It can be used for other languages? Wow, I didn't know that. O.o

Like I said, there's slight differences between them all. Like how with the Roman/Latin alphabet, English uses 26 letters, a-z, and in Spanish there are things like ñ, and German has ö ü etc and French has é à and such. Cyrillic is an alphabet, and each language that uses it has their slight alterations.

How did you type it out without knowing the alphabet?

Oh sorry! I just realised that you asked me a question. ^^" Well, my mom's phone is able to download international keyboards in her settings so I looked for "Bulgarian" and it was practically at the top of the list. :3 So I can only use the Cyrillic alphabet on my mom's phone. I don't know how to download it on the computer.

At that time, I didn't know it was Cyrillic. I just thought it was the Bulgarian alphabet. ^u^"

[The Dream Journalist|0 likes] [|reply]

haha well it is. But just like the majority of languages are written with the Roman/Latin alphabet, the languages in that region of the world are written with the Cyrillic alphabet. (:

lol no worries. I didn't figure you were purposely avoiding it or anything, that's why I just asked again! (:

So did she show you how it was spelled in Bulgarian then, and you remembered which letters they were from that? Or do you actually know that alphabet?

[Atropos|0 likes] [|reply]

I don't actually know the alphabet. ^^" I guess she showed me and I did use Google Translate a few times but now I just have a faint memory of..I don't know, I make sounds to go with the letters to make them much more easier to remember. Like...oh wait, I can't show you yet, I don't have my mom's phone lolz. Maybe later..oh, and also, I kind of remember the shape too.

Also, about the Faves list, you said I won't know if I'm on someone's Faves list or not. Does that mean I'm not actually on The Avon Lady's Faves list?

...oops! Didn't mean to let the signature slip. Really. ^.^"

[The Dream Journalist|0 likes] [|reply]

No no, if someone's IS public, then you can see that. But lots of people don't keep it public, so then it doesn't show to other people who is on theirs. So someone whose list is private you can be on and you wouldn't see that you were.

Ohhh. Thanks for explaining! >(^.^)

That's quite similar to the Russian word for 'hello' - which is pronounced 'zdrastvoytyeh', and uses the same type of alphabet, as atropos said. I know a tiny bit of Russian, as I've been a few times to Russian-speaking countries. It's a fun language. What languages do you speak? I'm guessing you're multilingual, as you live in Singapore?

Well, yeah...I'm a Malay even though I dislike it..I mean, English is soo much easier! So I know lots of English, a fair bit of Malay (but I usually use what we call "bahasa pasar" and I don't know how to say that in English, so please don't ask :3), err, some Arabic, a few French words, one Bulgarian word, and a Romanian song. Funny how I can barely survive Arabic and yet I memorised a whole song in Romanian. Oh, and the song is better known as the Numa Numa song. >(^.^)<

Songs are easy to learn though - you can learn a song in another language without even knowing the language at all.

Yeah, I agree with you actually. My Arabic teacher who has been our teacher since Primary...2, I think (and hopefully next year too, although I drive her crazy a bit), always made our Arabic verbs or nouns or tenses into songs to make it easier for us to remember. ^u^ But I did watch a Numa Numa video with the translation so at least I know that I'm singing a love song and not a song that has bad words in it, lol.
