The Point of Pointing Out the Point FRIDAY
27th June 2014, 11.35 PM.
Hello there, reader! I've been away for sometime now, haven't I? It feels like it.
My family and I have been on an outing today and I think we returned half an an hour earlier? Or was it an hour? I'm not quite sure. Anyway, it doesn't matter. We left in the afternoon, though.
My mom wanted me to wear a blue shirt with freaking bananas over it. There was no way I was wearing that out in public and she didn't seem to get why but at least she changed her mind in the end. I was running out of good shirts, anyway (as in shirts that I actually liked).
Y'know, the entire purpose of the outing that took us an entire day was to buy some new clothes for Hari Raya, which is a Malay tradition that comes after the month of fasting (which I'm pretty sure starts the day after tomorrow) when we visit our relatives to eat, drink, and chat together and stuff. We also get duit raya (which is basically money) but my brother and I don't really care much about that. I'm starting to think that we under-appreciate it, though...
Anyway, during the whole outing what we basically did was:
~ Eat lunch
~ Drop by a few of our relatives' houses to give dates
~ Pray
~ Go to Geylang (I think I made up a nickname for it but I forgot and it's not in the N&N list so I won't bother) to see it decorated by bright lights
~ Travel long distances in the (rented) car
~ Watch our mom weave in and out of shops without buying a single dress
~ Eat dinner
We did all those things and we did not even buy anything for Hari Raya!
So basically, the whole point of this entry was to point out that we missed the point of our outing. *Facepalm*
Was there ever any point in this? It does seem rather pointless now.
Thank you for reading!
