they did what?! Celeb News & GossipDJ AM spent his final week leading his usual peripatetic life – spending time in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and finally New York City, where he was found dead on Friday.
Last Sunday, Aug. 23, the popular DJ, born Adam Goldstein, visited Citi Field, where he threw out the first pitch at the Mets game. A neighbor, whose brother who saw him there, tells PEOPLE, "He said he was very nice and he seemed cool. He said everything looked normal."
But according to a source, within the past few weeks, Goldstein, 36, split with model Hayley Wood, and the situation had left him an emotional wreck.
"She ended it, and he didn’t want it to end. The breakup hurt him. He hadn't been in a good place lately. For the past week, he wasn't really around, he was keeping to himself, and he was blowing people off," says the source.
What he did not blow off were any of his professional responsibilities: Last Friday, he deejayed at Rain Nightclub in Las Vegas, where a source says he was "super chill, like he always is." (Earlier that evening he attended a Marilyn Manson concert with Pink's husband, Carey Hart.) And on Tuesday night, he was in the DJ booth at the Atlantic City club Dusk, of which he was part owner.
The source who called 911 (which prompted police to enter an apartment where they found the lifeless body) told the dispatcher Goldstein had not been seen for two days, but people were still hearing from him on Thursday. That day, he Tweeted a lyric from Grandmaster Flash: "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york ain't always what it seems." A friend also tells PEOPLE she received a text message from Goldstein around 5 o'clock that evening.
According to a source, Goldstein had been scheduled to perform at Rain nightclub at the Palms in Vegas on Friday night.
