Title: Sisterchicks Say Ooh La La!
Author: Robin Jones Gunn
Pages: 281
This is the fifth book in the Sisterchick series, but the nice thing is that each book is independent with fresh new characters and experiences.
SISTERCHICK n.: a friend who shares the deepest wonders of your heart, loves you like a sister, and provides a realiy check when you're being a brat.
Amy and Lisa are childhood friends who find each other again after a few years of absence from each other's lives, and as if ordained in the heavens, their friendship picks right back up as if no time has passed. When Amy gets a chance to go to Paris and live out a dream she's had since she was a little girl, she takes Lisa with her, despite Lisa's protests of never returning to Paris after her first trip there. The women have as many wonderful experiences as they do terrible ones, and some of their Parisian adventure is truly humorous. Each woman has their own fears to tackle, while in the City of Lights, but they soon discover that the best way to do it is with the unconditional love and support of their Sisterchick, under grace upon grace showered on them by God.
This story is a work of Christian fiction, so it might not be to all tastes because it does a fair amount of God-speak, but it's one of the reasons I liked it. I think the book opened my eyes to some of my own life stuff as I walk in the world and try to live a Christian life, growing closer to God. It's nice to see other people with the same struggles I have, even while experiencing something as marvelous as an unexpected trip to Paris.
