The choice that I have to make

So I met this girl whom I seem to like and she seems to like me, Well we've been dating for about 3 weeks and she begins to tell me that she doesn't like any form of the military service. I asked her why and she tells me that shes lost to many people to it. I like her a lot, and I enjoy being with her. But I'm going to have to make the greatest choice, that will either help us or break us. If me and her stay together, I will have to choose her or the coast guard, These choices are those that I seem to find myself always getting into. Shes pursuing music, and I am pursuing criminal justice. Not all branches of the military are bad right? I mean with everything you do in life there's always a risk. Well as of the past 4 minutes, she broke up with me. Looks like im screwed at prom, and all that, great.

It seems close minded to break up with someone because you don't agree with their career path. But I don't know.

I agree with the other noter.

Any branch of military is an amazing dedication on your behalf and something to be PROUD of. She might have other issues, such as fear, etc, of you joining, but she should still be supportive.

If she is ending your relationship because of your career choice, it sounds like she wasn't that great of a catch anyways. You can and will find someone better than her, who isn't so superficial.

Lost of people have a girlfriend...
..very few people enjoy their job.

I think its much more important to choose a career based only on what you want. How would she like it if someone told her they couldnt be with her if she continued a career in music?

I do think it was mean of her to dump you right before prom though...
you probably don't want to date a girl like that anyhow...
