That's MISS Defiant to you!!!

12/16/2009

I have my coworker, Dustin, trained well. Kourtney, our fellow coworker, was ordering me around in an arrogant tone of voice. If you don't know me well enough by now, I tend to do the opposite thing of what I am asked in those situations. I become MISS Defiant with a big, bad attitude. You could almost visualize the "Excuse me!?!" conversation bubble hovering above my right shoulder...from my body language alone (my eyebrow cocked up,lips pursed in annoyance, my arms crossed very tightly over my chest, my erect posture, and the warning light in my eyes). WELLLL....that is when she told Dustin to look at MISS Defiant (me, haha). He merely said, "Uh-oh. You better watch it. She'll get her broom after you."
I was walking toward the back of the kitchen at the time and I merely thanked him for the idea. I grabbed the nearest broom and pretended to upend it (like I was going to hit her on the head with the bristle part of it) and started toward her direction. HAHA, she walked away from me very quickly at that point. I merely laughed, put the broom back, and jokingly told Dustin something along the lines of "she ran away too". It was an amusing situation all in all. I have too much fun at work with my coworkers. There is a reason that some of them call me the Burger King Bully. It is all unfounded heresay however. *innocent look* Really it is.

Well, it is 2:33am or else I'd call my cousin and wish him another year older. It is my cousin Josh's birthday. He is turning 29 this year. I don't work today. I just got home from work (from yesterday, technically) around 2:00am. Eh, I'm used to these hours. I stayed afterward so that my manager wasn't the only one at work. She was doing her paperwork at the time. Let's just say that she doesn't feel secure while at work by herself anymore. There is a very good reason for it.

The other day while I was cleaning lobby, one of my other coworkers (Lonnie...aka: LeLonnie, haha) was sitting at one of the booths. He was on his work break or something. Apparently, some guy outside was trying to get him to open the doors. Our lobby doors are locked at 10:00pm and it was after that time. At one point, the guy looked at Lonnie and all Lonnie saw of his face was his eyes and lips in the dark. The guy was wearing a ski mask! That is suspicious in itself. What made it worse is that once he realized that Lonnie saw his "face", he took off toward the nearby Wal-Mart. That is also toward the direction of our back door. I made sure that Lonnie checked the lock on the back door. It is supposed to be locked after dark...which is understandable. The door was locked, just in case you were wondering. Well, apparently the ski mask guy hadn't left the premises yet because when he saw our manager on the phone (to the police), he took off for good. Him and some other guy were driving a vehicle on which you could not see the license plates. Everything combined convinced us that someone was casing the joint and was getting ready to rob our store. I was so tired and out of it at the time that I didn't realize most of this until I heard it secondhand...a couple of days later. The Lord protected us all that night is all that I know. That is the reason Melissa, my manager, doesn't feel secure alone at work at night now.

Let's see...what have I been up to lately? Work, work, and more work. Nope, nothing new there. They cut my hours some at work recently so I've been working all the days they call me into work (on my days off). Every hour I work adds just that much more to my paycheck. I'm not going home for christmas OR buying gifts for anyone because I am just THAT poor right now. I have a stack of bills that I have to pay first anyway. My sister wanted me to travel to Oklahoma to spend christmas with her and her kids (and of course, Brad-her fiance). Since I don't know the way and cannot afford gas or presents, that made up my mind regarding that situation. I usually drive 4 hours away to southern Missouri for holidays but again, I can't afford it this year. All the family in this area have their own plans OR I cannot get ahold of them (despite many attempts). Thus, I will be alone on christmas. It will not be, by far, the worst christmas ever though. Imagine having the flu from hell AND alone on christmas. That is much worse! I'll survive. I'm sure as heck going to call family that day though. The song "I'll be home for christmas" says it all. I'll be there "in my dreams" and in spirit.

I found out that I may have the job of making my cousin, Jessica's, wedding invitations. She is calling me Sunday and we are discussing the details. If I get the job, this will be the biggest one I've had since starting up Robyn'sEgg Designs. I told her that I'd work with her budget (within reason, I do still have operating costs afterall). I have been doing some research for myself as well as asking others what they paid for any invitations they have had to order (for any reason). So far, most of their answers have supported my own research. I do plan on doing more research though and coming up with costs regarding my own operating supplies for her. I take my business very seriously as you can probably tell.

I got to tell my friend Lydia all about it (I think I told her...if not, I'll tell her when I call her later on tonight) when I called her before leaving for work. In fact, I was late to work by about 5-10 minutes due to talking to Lydia on the phone. Haha, oops. We have to schedule when we'll call each other due to conflicting schedules. That's the way it is with everyone I know really.
My grandpa called me the other day wanting my address. I KNOW I have given my grandparents my address several times already, haha. He called me right between a brief period of time which I was waking up & going back to sleep. It was well timed on his account, haha. I told him then that I was unable to make it down for christmas. I told him it was because of work and such. I didn't go into details about my financial situation. Pride held me back...I admit it. I know that they wouldn't care if I didn't bring them christmas gifts. It's my cousins and such that would make a ruckus about it. They'd be half-joking about it but it'd still make me feel like an ass. It's not my fault that I'm so poor. All I do is work and pay bills...seriously.

In good news, I received a $25.00 gift card to Wal-Mart from the Board of Directors that help run the apt. complex I live in. I'm going to use it to get some basic groceries for my apt. I don't buy much food because I don't eat here most of the time PLUS my stove doesn't work for some reason. I don't have an oven and all I have to cook is a small crockpot, an electric skillet, a microwave, and a toaster oven. That's more than some people have but I'm used to having a stove. I usually just heat up food in the microwave, haha. On Sunday nights, I eat a homecooked meal from local churches (after the sunday night service at my complex's community house). I live in a complex with a wrap-around program. All that means is that this is not merely a place to live. It is a place with programs that help you get back on your feet and better yourself...if you try to do so/participate in programs fit to you. This past Sunday I got a big box of food from College Heights Christian Church. The Lord has blessed me here immensely.

Well, I'd probably ought to be heading off of here. Talk to all of you later.--Your neighborhood, defiant lady--Robyn
