Yesterday was Melissa's birthday. If you have been on bloop for a long time, you may or may not know who I'm talking about.
Thus, since it was her birthday, I called her and wished her one...during my break at work. She was busy playing with the Wii Fit her boss gave her for working so hard during his vacation time. It arrived on her birthday. How good of timing was that? Haha.
Anyway. I called her and her daughter answered. I thought it was Melissa and proceeded to greet her. That is not the funny part. Wait for it...
We were talking and she mentioned that Lauren was no longer in my "neck of the woods" in the U.S. I mentioned how Lauren is happier on the East Coast because she thought Joplin was full of hicks. Then, one of her daughters in the background, asked what a hick was. Wait for it...
THEN she proceeded to ask if a hick was the same as a...hickey!
So, now Melissa has to explain what a hick is to her daughter. Haha. So it's not the funniest story. It made my day...in that moment.
Then, as I was still on my break and hiding in the kids room, one of managers wife (with kids and friend in tow) came in to see David. David's son, who I would guess is around 2 years old, jabbered my head off. Don't worry, it didn't annoy me in the least bit. In fact, it amused me...when I could understand his rapid fire chatter. He's a cute boy and very gregarious. One of my coworkers came into the kids room to clean it up while I was hiding in there. Nikki, my coworker, was "ordered" by the boss' young son to clean a table since it was dirty. Haha. He is walking in David's footsteps at an early age.
Kids bring such joy into life sometimes. And no, that is not my biological clock ticking, in case you were wondering. The batteries are not even in that clock nor is the clock plugged in--so it is not able to start ticking. Haha. Besides, I can live vicariously through my friends and family when it comes to kids....and I do. |
