Greased lightening...!

06/06/2009

Do you want to know what amuses me? If not, I'm going to tell you anyway. How about those apples???

It amuses me when kittens have either food or toys they have to share with others. There is always one kitten who likes to lord it over the rest that they have "it" and they aren't going to share "it". It is like their own personal game of "Mine!". Their warnings sound more like "Don't touch it or I'm going to scatch your eyeballs out with my killer claws...stay away now! I'll stay in sight though and let YOU watch ME play with the toy, out of pure spite, however." Haha.
I may be alone in that observation, but that is what I see when I watch kittens in those moments.

In many ways, animals are a lot like children at times. Animals love more unconditionally though, haha.

I'm attempting to give away my kittens today at Wal-Mart. I have all the crap I need for there all together. I'm just waiting until this afternoon to go there. I hope I can give them all away today. I have no more food in the house to give them. Heck, they have been spoiled this past week with tuna and freshly cooked chicken. Normally, I only give them a cupful of cat food. However, I only have $3.40 in the bank which has to last for 2 weeks. Thus, I cannot go buy cat food. If luck holds out, I might even be able to give Sut away. I don't really want to, but I cannot afford to keep her anymore. She is the highest in priority when it comes to going to a good home. The others are in the same status, but I'm more attached to Sut. I've had her for nearly 3-4 years now. Can you believe 3-4 years have passed already since then?

Along with amusement, do you know what pisses me off beyond belief? I'm not talking about the mild/heavy irritation with someone. I'm talking about full-fledged anger to the point that one shuts down into "ice queen" mode. I go silent when I'm severely pissed off. I realize not everyone expresses their anger in this way.
Well, I will tell you that as well.

I was in kitchen last night by myself when the late dinner rush came through my workplace. I get mildly irritated when I can't keep up reasonably well to begin (more with myself, rather than others--others get the full force of my irritation though, unfortunately). I had finally gotten caught up in the kitchen when the phone rang. Of course, my manager was nowhere to be found. So I answered the phone myself while I was multi-tasking. The customers who called were wanting to talk to the manager. That obviously didn't happen. I tried to fix the problem. This is where Robyn got mad. They had an order that went as such (I know...I made it earlier that night with help.):

Medium sized Double Whopper meal (no tomato) with fries and a drink
Medium sized Double Whopper meal (regular) with fries and a drink
9 piece cheesy tot
Medium 9 piece chicken fry meal with fries and a drink
Double cheeseburger (only ketchup/mustard)
Double cheeseburger (only mayo/lettuce)

That is not a small order by any stretch of the imagination. Correct? Well, this was their reaction to their order:

--The fries were cold.
--The chicken fries were rubbery and cold.
--The cheeseburgers had no cheese on them, cold, AND were made wrong. (Bull shit!)
--The cheesy tot was cold.
--The double whoppers were made wrong and cold. (Bull shit!)
--The drinks "tasted like pond scum". (I really wanted to be sarcastic and ask if they had been drinking pond scum recently. Effective customer service discourages that though. Darn, haha.)

I do not know about you, but I feel that is excessive complaining. I cannot vouch for the stuff I did not comment on, but I made the sandwiches and I can vouch for their temperature and such. As for the drink complaint, that was going too far because A) the drinks come out of machines & B) the customers were being RUDE.
After the late dinner rush, I really wanted to punch them in the face for making make their order COMPLETELY over again (from fresh). I understand why one would want fresh food. I had no complaint with that. I didn't even mind making the food very much. What bothered me the most was how rude they were. When they came in to get their order again, I literally could not look at them. They would have either been told off by me or by my eyes. I'm sure the look in my eyes could have frozen an active volcano (or hell...) at the moment. I was severely pissed off!
On a good note though, I did get off early from work. I would have had to be there until 3am otherwise and helped close. I close tonight however.

This is my schedule next week. Prepare to feel exhausted just by reading it. Haha.

Today:
Give away cats, clean house, make cards for people (if I have time), work from 6pm-3am, come home and crash.

Sunday:
church (early...after closing at work, VBS meeting after church, nap-maybe)

Monday-Friday:
VBS (9am-12pm: I'd have to leave my house by 8am or earlier to get there in time) at church, nap/get stuff done around home, work the nights I do..

Tuesday:
The first meeting of summer Koinonia is this week (7pm).

Saturday:
I'm sure I work that night. I always work on weekends.

That is my schedule. I know it doesn't look as busy as it should be, but I will be exhausted. I love, love, love helping at VBS and have since I was in 6th grade. The worst part of it all will be losing sleep during the day. I sleep during the day since I work nights. Enough said. I will be helping with grade school crafts class...as a semi-teacher. I go to a huge church. There will be a main teacher over the whole class but each helper is essentially a teacher as well. This will be a big step away from my church back home where I first volunteered to help at VBS (in 6th grade). There was literally 1 craft class and each age group took it at different times of the day. I have actually been the official teacher for that class-by default. It was stressful but so worth it. I loved every moment of it. It helps that I love crafts and enjoy being around kids (the good ones, at least, haha). Every year I have volunteered, I have tried to be the crafts helper. Haha.

Sorry to put you through my mood swings, but I wanted to "vocalize" my feelings. I'm no longer mad about the work situation, no matter how it sounded. I literally was so mad last night that it wiped me out physically once I got home. Normally, I cannot sleep for a few hours after working. I was passed out within 30 minutes and didn't wake up until 4 hours later. Haha. I obviously went back to sleep. I woke up officially around 8:30am. Thus, I got a good night's sleep. (Unlike the night before, which I'm sure helped contribute toward my mood at work. I was happy when I got to work, if that tells you anything. I was also avoiding a coworker last night and threatened another kiddingly, haha.)

Happy birthday, Aunt Kathy! I'll be nice and not post your age.

kittens are absolutely adorable. (and amusing) I hope yours finds a good home. it must've been hard to come to the decision to give them away, but money sucks like that. kudos to you.

ugh! customers *shakes head* Being in customer service is one of the toughest jobs ever. especially with food. i hated working with food. it's hard to satisfy everyone and on top of satisfying, smiling and being oh-so polite when all they want to do is nag nag nag complain complain complain. this was too cold, i don't like this, i didn't ask for this, i wanted this instead, can i have this instead? why are you out of this? ugh!
