Hello strangers. Or am I the stranger these days? I guess it is all a matter of perspective. Haha.
So, what have I been up to since I last wrote in here? Wow, I don't even want to contemplate that. Haha.
I was fired from BK (a blessing in disguise since I HATED my job). I was unemployed for nearly 2 months until I found a job with a local home health care company. I am an in-home aide for a 91 year old lady named Ruth. She is pretty quiet and keeps to herself. Once you get her up and around for the day, you put her in her recliner in the livingroom. You have to make sure she has her newspaper, her water (of nectar consistency), her morning Ensure shake, her bell, and Fox News turned up to overwhelmingly loud. She is perfectly happy for the most part there until she is ready for bed. In the meantime, I have some downtime combined with jobs around the house.
I have scrubbed down the shared bathroom (walls and everything...as much as I could reach), deep cleaned the diningroom as much as I could, and scrubbed down the kitchen several times. That is in conjunction with the usual jobs: dishes and such. I'm trying to deep clean one room at a time. I work 4 days a week and live at the residence during that time. Overall, I enjoy my job much better. I'm getting used to having more downtime than I did at BK. BK was a study in constant activity. I do like to stay busy so that wasn't a problem for me. It is less stressful here. That is a great thing.
I fought with unemployment during the period of time I was looking for work. I haven't received a single unemployment check and am not holding my breath about receiving back checks. No big deal. It would be a nice addition toward the payment of my bills however. My cousin Michael helped pay October rent and another bill. The church I attend helped me on my electricity bill. I just have to figure out how to pay my remaining bills. I did get behind financially during my unemployment. I owe my landlords $600.00 still in back rent. Grrr...
Of course, my family, for the most part, does not know about all this. I want it that way. I did inform my grandparents that I finally found a job though. I'm in my 2nd week of employment...and will have worked around 115 hours as of Saturday, October 9th. I will have around 40 extra hours on my paycheck added to that. I get my first paycheck on October 15th.
I volunteered for the "Great Day of Service" held by CHCC and other local churches. We had 2400-2500 volunteers who canvassed town and did acts of service from 8am-12pm on September 26th. It was no big deal. I did lawn care themed jobs mainly.
The day before, my former roommate Amanda came into town with her son and husband. I hadn't seen her since before she got married. I went to her bachelorette party. It was tame but that weekend is forever seared on my brain. Trust me, you don't want to know. Haha. I bypassed going to another friend's wedding (Kim and Kyle) because Amanda came into town. I enjoyed meeting her son for the first time. Zion is a lot like Amanda...it was cute.
I went to the wedding of Grace's mother sometime in September, I believe. I went to support her since herself and her 2 daughters made me feel Loved around Christmas. I was stuck in Joplin due to work and weather conditions (icy and nasty). "Home" is 4 hours away otherwise. Traveling there was not an option. Well, the family in question invited me to their home for christmas which touched me. I was not able to attend because the weather became worse but that wasn't their fault. I sort of view them as family due to their kindness. I actually missed the wedding ceremony but I did make it to the reception. I made a card for the blessed couple. Ironically, the mother married someone with the same last name as me. He is not related to me as far as I know though. I do have a common last name. You are "touched in the head" if you think I am publishing that online however. Haha.
Well, I don't know what else to say in here. Besides, I have to start thinking about lunch for Ruth and myself. See you later.--Robyn
