Zombies on crack!

11/06/2009

Well, it's been nearly a month since I last typed up an entry. I've been here, there, and everywhere since then. Mostly "there" and "here", haha.

Well, on the 11th, I ate lunch with my friend Yvette at Applebee's. It was nice catching up with her. I believe that was the last time I technically "saw" her. I might have seen her at church that one morning when I was a complete zombie! I had worked an 11-hour shift the night before and hadn't slept before church. Enough said. I have been working a lot of those kinds of shifts lately. We have been busier than usual most nights in recent weeks. Night shift is notorious for being short-handed too...so I end up staying behind on my shift and helping out as much as possible. That means that I wear myself out.

My trip to OK to see my sister and other family was much appreciated as you can imagine. I had an absolute blast there. If you are my friend on Facebook, I posted pictures from the trip...as well as some other photos my sister gave me off of her camera. She was very appreciative of my laptop since she was able to take off pictures from her camera AND print some of them. Heck, she even printed some of the pictures off of my computer. She has family pictures now...that's for sure. Haha. I gave Brad, her fiance, a hard time about OU (Univ. of Oklahoma-sports team, for those who are confused) and KU (Univ. of Kansas). I'm a KU fan and he is a die-hard OU fan. He had to call me and tell me that OU beat KU (football--like I care, haha) while I was at work one night after I returned to Joplin. Smart-aleck, haha.

We have had several new employees at work...either through transfers or new hires. We also have had several people fired at work. Rita, my former manager, quit because she got a job that is better suited for her. David and Jamie transferred to the store closer to my apt...so Glenita came to take Jamie's spot. From there, "my" store went all to hell. It is like it was when Heather was RGM (restaurant general manager--aka: store manager). Glenita is the RGM. I actually wrote a letter to my coworkers and was going to post it tonight at work. Jamie and other managers wouldn't let me though because they thought it was going to start a battlefield at work. Scaredy-cats! The letter addressed all the things that NEED to be fixed...all fixated around one issue: people not doing their damn jobs!!! I have had enough of it and my crap-ometer has broken at the top and is now dysfunctional. I can't take anyone's crap anymore...at nearly every level. Patrice made a copy of it though and is giving it to Marie (our regional manager). I hope it fixes/improves the situation but I'm afraid it isn't going to do a damn thing! Can you tell that I'm even more unsatisfied with my job than in the past? If not, I'm not showing it enough that I HATE & DESPISE my job. Enough said.

I experienced a short but very unpleasant bout of food poisoning since I last updated as well. I know what I'm NOT going to eat for a long time. That is all I have to say on that issue.

While I was in OK visiting family, I got to bond some with my cousin Danielle. That was a pleasant development. We have never been very close in the past. She is the one I refer to as "demon spawn" from time to time. That used to be my nickname for her. Seriously.
Please keep her and her mom in your prayers. I would say why but it is family business. Plus, the Lord knows more than I do regarding her situation. Her brother, Justin-17 years old & his way down a bad road, is in legal trouble as well. Apparently, he has a 19 year girl pregnant AND has 19 felony counts against him for his most recent stupid decision. He was caught red-handed with a knife by the cops. Him and his friends had been slashing tires at a local car dealership. That is the story anyway. I worry about him...
He needs prayer as well. My whole family does in one way or another actually.

Danielle gave my niece, Hailey, a makeover one night while in OK. Then, Hailey asked "aunt robyn" to do the same. Well, I'm not much into girly things like makeup and such. I can do a decent job when I want to but I have to be in the mood. She didn't like how I did it though. It was half her fault. She chose the colors (partly...I tried to neutralize her decisions some, haha). She told me point blank "I don't like it. I look scary." The next day she asked me to give her another makeover and I told her to ask Danielle since she liked D's job better than mine. Haha. Of course, I said it nicely. I wasn't going to listen to complaining about how she looked "scary" again.

All of us "kids" had a silly string fight in Keri's yard while in OK. My aunts bought the silly string and took pictures of us. My cousin josh (older than me by 2-3 years), myself, danielle, and keri's 3 kids all participated. Hey, we are all big kids anyway. Danielle rode my Aunt Laura Kay's mini-motorcycle while over at her house...and rode it directly into the trailor. Hehe. There is apparently a dent in the trailor now. She mistaken regarding the gas and break pedals...enough said.

Oh, something funny was said by Aunt Laura Kay's husband (doyle). He was looking down the hallway in Keri's trailor and made the passing remark "you know you are a redneck when you have a clothesline running down your hallway". HAHA!

As far as MO happenings go, not much has happened. All my apt windows were replaced as part of a grant given by the city to God's Resort (where I live). The construction crews had been working on other buildings in my complex. They finally got to mine around Tuesday...and finished yesterday (I hope). It has been frustrating to have to go downstairs and finish sleeping in my car before going to work. I had to do that several mornings in a row. I woke up yesterday to men outside my window. I have about 4 windows that surround my bed...so it was doubly disturbing. I took a razor blade and removed all the stickers off of my 10 apt. windows for them. I was nice and did the 2 windows down the hallway leading to my apt. They can get the ones at the top of my staircase...where the bees and wasps like to congregate. Aren't I so nice?
I LOVE my new energy efficient windows, by the way! They sure beat window frames that are drafty and cold. One actually had a rolled up towel on it to keep the bugs and cold air out of the apt. It was missing the wooden frame at the bottom of the top window pane. Sounds beautiful, huh?

I have been sketching a lot lately. I started a sketch of a nearby neighborhood church. When the workers were in my apt painting the inside window sills they created, I sketched a view outside one of my bedroom windows. If my camera was working, I'd totally take pictures of my sketches and share with you, but you are out of luck. They aren’t that great anyway…haha.

Do you know what makes a fat kid run? The ice cream man, of course! Haha, I totally felt like I was stalking the ice cream (wo)man a week or so ago. I chased that stupid van a block from Byers & 14th Street…clear to Byers & 18th Street!!! By “chase”, I mean I RAN after the van. It just kept on going like the driver was taunting me . Finally, the lady driving the van stopped because she saw me chasing her. I was DETERMINED to get some ice cream that day! Haha. I was just about to turn around and go back home when she stopped the van though.
THEN, not even a few days ago, I was driving down the road and ended up behind a vehicle for a nationally-owned ice cream vendor. I swear, I have been stalking the ice cream man lately! Haha!
That, and the men outside my windows…I guess the ice cream man sicced his posse on me in retaliation. Just kidding.

On a more serious and personal level, I have been struggling on not being embittered and full attitude at work lately. I have had a few days where God’s hand has been on me while at work and He has given me peace (when I accepted it, that is). I have been cussing a lot lately too. I did it on the phone with grandma while venting about work. I could almost hear her lips pursing in disapproval when the words slipped out of my mouth. Please keep me in your prayers that I can stop cursing so much (or at all) and for inner peace. I definitely need it. I’m not happy right now…for many reasons. I’m not going into all of them right now though. That is part of the reason I don’t update on here much anymore. I’m dissatisfied with my life in general right now…
My life isn’t horrible right now but it isn’t the most fun either. Enough said. Well, I’ll shut up now . I hope all of you got this far into this entry. If you did, congrats! Bye for now.--Robyn

P.S.--I work day shifts the next 2 days (Friday and Saturday) covering 2 of my coworkers. I will be a freakin’ zombie during them too. I sleep during the days.
