This is a great article that explains (kinda) how the brain works.
Basically, our brains are pharmacies! We have everything in our brain to make ALL the chemicals that they could give you over the counter--- you just need to figure out how to access it.
Apparently, constant running "can in fact produce narcoticlike chemicals in the body".
I KNEW IT!
------------
so I HATE running. Really don't like it. But someone asked me "don't you get the runner's high?" And I always thought "fuck no... I run so I can burn off the pizza I ate last night!"
but, in fact, I DO feel better. I feel more powerful, I feel like I accomplished something awesome! And this "HELL YEA!" feeling stays with me ALL DAY-- sometimes all week.
How many of you run? What are your symptoms of "the runner's high"? |
