WOD = "Workout OF (the) Day"
by LN's WOD

previous entry: JULY UPDATE: (kinda long)

next entry: sigh.

menu (for autumn)

07/07/2011

Breakfast:
Smoothie (made in my blendtec!)

  • greek yoguart
  • juice (cranberry or simply orange)
  • banana (usually)
  • frozen berries

    Lunch:
usually salads. Cobb salad, turkey/bacon/ranch salad, raspberry-chueve (goat cheese that apparently i can't spell) salad, etcetc. When I'm at home I HATE making salads, so i normally eat leftovers or something.

Sometimes the kitchen will have chicken/meat served with veggies that I'll opt for.

    Dinner:
MEAT! Normally I'll make a big meal thingy on sunday that will last me the week. This week I didn't and it's kinda screwing me. (the only downside to paleo is trying to figure out what to make "quick")

Here are some things I've made:
  • cheese wrapped with chicken wrapped with bacon. (tooth-pick and bake for 35 min)
  • eggs and onions (this is my staple...whenever i'm out of ideas or need something quick, eggs are my "goto meal")
  • spinach, chicken, tomato, goat-cheese crumbles, sunflower seeds with mint sauce. (this was totally an accident but ended up being SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD.
  • brats with salsa/cheese/whatever (another "quick meal")
  • chicken and peaches (simple bake)
  • paleo-shepard's pie (beef, Mediterranean veggies (zucchini and stuff), mashed cauliflower, cheese.
  • lots and lots of stir fry. (just veggies + meat + eggs)

    DESSERTS!
  • paleo keylime pie. (this didn't turn out very well, sadly.... mostly because I suck at baking new things, let alone using almond/coconut flour that isn't the same consistency as normal flour.
  • honey shortbreadzomg......effin' delicious!!!! (I used normal flour over the weekend.... I've never had anything that's tasted so good before!
  • fudge babies I've made something similar to these....but not exactly. I was told that these are better
  • chocolate-cheesecake "brownies"--- meh.... it was greek yoguart + chocolate + honey.... you can image how it tasted (and it wasn't good).

That's not bad at all. Do you find that it is kind of expensive with all the meat? I sometimes try to eat this way but when I have to cook for the family it gets tough.

It's weird that you mentioned price.... I actually save a lot more money this way because I stock up on produce/food that goes bad (and i only buy that stuff) and only shop once a week.

the most expensive thing i buy is mixed-nuts. (7$ a box/tube/carton/whatever the packaging).

my lunch is done by the company (that's $4.50 no matter what i get).

Typically i spend about 30-50$ a week on groceries (depending on all the other non-food stuff i need to buy).

I feel like since bry started eating at home our bill shot up. Maybe because I try to only buy antibiotic free meat? But before we only ate meat a few times a week. Obviously he likes to have meat at every meal.

I don't know if this would apply to you, but I used to spend a lot more money on meat back when I didn't realize that one (antibiotic free, boneless skinless) chicken breast was actually tow servings of meat! So we still eat meat at home pretty much every day, but now I split the breast into 4 ounce portions, which I combine with brown rice and some steamed vegetable and that's what my dinner consists of most nights.

And by TOW servings of meat, I mean TWO.

Yeah, I usually only cook two chicken breasts for all of us and add grilled veggies or spinach and typically a starch, because honestly, I don't think my family could live without it. lol

I like all the things you eat, but I would die without carbs. Like, seriously, my life would be miserable without them. It's sad that a type of food that's not even good for me holds that much power over my life.

But you are looking amazing, dude!
