oooowwwwwwwwwwww

06/23/2011

so, I complained to people at work (office manager) that I needed my desk to be raised (put on 2x4s) because my back is hurting. (pinched nerve in my shoulders).

what does she do? She suggests I talk to HR.

ok. fine. I talk to HR.

HR comes up to my office and looks and how I work. (I sit on a yoga ball at work, not a chair. I found that this SIGNIFICANTLY helped my posture/back.) She said "well, your desk is definitely too low, but sit in the chair.... let's see what that looks like."

so I sat in the chair. She said "oh wow! you look a lot better sitting in the chair! your posture is great and your arms/legs are all at the appropriate angles!" (meaning legs and arms are bent 90degrees, wrists aren't hyper-extended, etcetc.)

So she had me sit in a fucking chair all day until "she could figure out a way to resolve this".

at 4pm, I couldn't take it anymore. my back hurt SOOOOO BAD that I couldn't even sit anymore-- so i spent the rest of the day standing/yoga-stretching/squating, doing anything but sitting.

I went to the gym. (BIG MISTAKE).
worked out (I was supposed to do hip-extensions, but I couldn't because of the pain) so she had me do squats instead.)

Now --I can barely move. It hurts to do everything (and not in the "sore because i just worked out" pain.... the "omg, i dislocated something" pain.)

I'm going to go waddle over to the drug store and get a back-brace after I submit this.

Tomorrow-- I call the doctor and have them write me a note (and maybe a rx for vicodin or something.) Then I'm going to ream out HR and tell them to fuck themselves.

(sorry this was rambly.... I hurt.)

Thats not cool.
My cubicle at work is to high for me to be able to use a yoga ball and I probably wouldnt be allowed too even if I could/wanted too. But I dont think Id wanna sit in a yoga ball for 8+ hours. I have a chair but it has to have a pillow on it or my back hurts so bad I have to go to the chiropracter 3times a week.
This Obese lady (Im talking 400LBs) at my job was allowed to get a "special" chair (really, larger) bc of her hip/back pain. geeeez
