I'm shocked to have received so many messages from my one or two sentence first entry. So thank you for that! It's funny, because it was awhile before I ever got that many notes on OD at one time honestly.. and lately I'm lucky to get one or two responses. I'm not sure what to do with myself.
Anyway! I've been an OD member for probably since.. 2000 or 2001? I forget the specifics.. my first diary there is gone, so I don't know for sure. I had a few friends from a message board tell me about it, so I joined under the name Capture the Innocence, and kept on going. Around 2003 or 2004 (I forget), was writing more in Live Journal.. but I turned back to OD as I needed a space to write about my feelings in which I wanted none of my friends to be able to read.
The reason? I had begun to question my sexuality, and at the time, I was afraid of how people would receive that information. Besides, not yet knowing for sure myself, I wasn't ready to tell anyone. OD provided a good outlet for that with the LGBT circle, and I made a lot of really awesome friends. One of which I ended up dating for 3 and a half years and moving to St. Petersburg, Florida to be with. While it didn't work out, and there was a lot of pain associated with the end of our relationship, we are still really good friends.. and I wouldn't trade any of that for the world.
St. Pete was an awesome city to live in, and wouldn't mind living there again at some point.. but for now, I'm content to be back in school in the Grand Rapids area, finally finishing my bachelors for psychology. What I'll do in April is up for grabs.. either I'll move again (wherever I find a job) or I may go for my PhD. It depends on what jobs I can find and if I can afford to go to U of M for my degree.
Anyway.. this is getting pretty long, but I figured after such a welcome.. I might give a little bit of information about myself. Looking forward to making even more new friends! Hopefully I'll have time later tonight to respond to all of your notes! But if I don't, I hope you won't be offended! The life of a college student is nothing, if not hectic. |
