The Fire and The Body
As I hold the flame up to my free hand I can’t help but admire the way the flame dances in the slight cold breeze, colours changing in front of my eyes. First the normal orangey/red colour, then it morphs in to a purple then blue and ending in a deep yet bright-ish green. It is then that I realise that I can’t feel the heat, that I am numb. It’s not just the cold or the snow around my feet but the fact that it feels like my heart has been ripped out. I look down at the massive hole in my chest where my heart once was. Then I remember you stabbed me and ripped it out of me, threw it on the floor and walked away, standing on it as you left.
I stand there with unanswered questions swimming around my head, hoping, and wishing that they would be answered. Why did you do it? Am I not good enough? Is my best not up to scratch? Please don’t leave me this way. I try and wake myself up but nothing is working. It is at this point that I can see a body slumped on the floor, back against the wall. I decide to walk over to see if they need help. As I step closer to the mysterious person I recognise some of their features, it’s a young girl can’t be more than 25, the hair is the same style and colour as mine, but most women have the same shoulder length hair these days.
As I approach the young girl I ask if she are ok and if she needs help. There is no reply so I go to lift her head up so I can make sure that she is ok. Just as I lift it up I freeze in horror, as the face that is looking back at me is mine. Then reality kicks in………I am dead and you killed me!
