Haha -- this website is a product of the early 2000s. If you wanted to do all of that stuff, you gotta do it manually, with CSS.

Oh I figured that one out! When you're on someone's diary, in the top right corner there should be a crossed out eye, a star and some other icons. The star adds a diary to your faves!.
Did it say success:false or success:true? If it says success:true, then that's good. The next step is to actually have it take you into some place where you can check comments, etc.
True. But it wouldn't let me do anything further than that.
