someday you'll be fine

Lets recap on what's been going on this past week:
-Wednesday: We sent a kid home from school because she had a high fever. She is in mine & Julie's group and since Julie wasn't at work that day, I was sitting next to this kid, hugging her and making sure she was OK.
-Thursday: My mom calls and tells me that Kat (the kid's mom) has been at her mother's house because she's sick with the flu. My mom also tells me that the kid, sisters, and father might have influenza type A.
-Sunday: Cynthia calls all of us (teachers) and lets us know the school will be closed for 10 days because the kid exposed everyone at school to the swine flu.

Fucking GREAT!

So here's what Cynthia told us.
Cynthia was called today by the Health Deparment telling her that the mother had tested positive for the swine flu. They now had to call & inform all of the families that their children and parents had been exposed to it. Furthermore, the mother also told Cynthia that the kid (and one of her sisters) were sick on Tuesday (sick as in with fever and stuff) but were given medicine. The father then called the mother (who was staying at her mother's house AKA grandma) and the mother told him that if the kid was feeling good by Wedneday to send her to school.

So they sent her to school. The kid's sister was sick on Wednesday and did not attend school but had also exposed her classmates and people at her elementary school to whatever she had.

FURTHERMORE, the sister's school has closed for 10-14 days.

I seem to be good as is my mom. My brother is great, my dad is too, and everyone else (the few parents and kids I have talked to) are also good and not sick at all. If we did have this flu, we would be pretty fucking sick by now already which we are not.

I'm just annoyed and angry that the mom was so fucking irresponsible about this and ended up sending her kids to school already AND she knows that one of the school policies is to keep kids at home for at least 24 hours if they have a fever.

I think I want to punch this mom.
