Making progress but a little scared

11/18/2009

After all that fighting to find a job I'm probably going to end up losing the one I've got! Last Wednesday they made me leave work early because I looked sick and they were scared of the swine flu. I didn't get to the doctor until Saturday morning so I was out of work ALL that time for what turned out to be a simple cold. I TRIED to tell my boss that I was okay but she refused to take chances, she wouldn't even let me use the phone to call John to come get me, she made me give our number to my supervisor so SHE could call John. Then they wouldn't even let me wait for him inside where it was warm, they made me sit out in the cold and he had to call my mom who was in my car to come, she was about 45 minutes away at the time so needless to say I was waiting for a while. Anyway so I got to back to work yesterday, wake up this morning and I'm hurting like a mother fucker...I tried to ignore it but by the time I was supposed to be getting ready for work I was bent double and crying. So my mom called me in, even though she'd had absolutely no sleep and then took me to the hospital. (John refuses to leave the house right now because we haven't been able to pay his probation fee and he's terrified theres a warrant out for his arrest, even though I've explained a million times that if he'd just call his officer everything would be fine!)
Anyway we get to the hospital, sign in and start waiting...about 45 minutes later the patient advocate came over and asked us what we were in the hospital for, when I explained the situation she went right over to the desk and told them that I needed to be seen immediately. It was a good thing she did too because it turned out that they had mixed my sign in sheet with a pile of the ones who'd already been seen which means we never would have been called back. Once they got me to check my vitals though and realized how far along I was they sent me straight up to the labor and delivery department, which really scared me to pieces. They wouldn't even let me walk, they made me get into a wheel chair and be escorted the entire way to the bed. Me and momma ended up being there for five hours, the whole time I was strapped to a million different machines that read the baby's heart rate and movement. We waited so long because they actually called the OBGYN in from his personal office to see me.
Once he got there he checked me out, did a VERY painful pelvic exam and informed me that not only am I due sometime in February but that I'm in so much pain because they baby is breach and so I may end up having to have a c-section. I am supposed to go BACK to the hospital Friday as an outpatient for a full set of ultrasound pictures, even though they said they refuse to tell me the sex of the baby until I have insurance which really really upsets me. Anyway, the doctor told me the farther along I am, the more pain I'm going to be in until/if the baby ever decides to turn itself back around into the proper position.
Dr. Jewell also was kind enough to write a letter, on prescription paper to the DEFACs office, telling them that I am pregnant and what my due date is, forcing them to allow me to apply for medicaid. So naturally as soon as we left the hospital we headed straight to the DEFACs office and filled out the necessary paperwork. Within 10 days I'm supposed to either have an appointment with medicaid personally or be receiving a K-number (a K-number is a number proving that I have medicaid and am simply waiting for my card to arrive in the mail, meaning I can go ahead and see a doctor before the full information arrives.) So thankfully, even though it may have cost me my job, progress has been made towards making sure my child is fully developed and healthy besides being breach.
Another good piece of news is that John may have a job working on the same oil rig that my mom's boyfriend works on. He'll be gone for two weeks at a time which is a HUGE down side but the upside is that if he'll be bringing home around 2500 dollars a month at the very LEAST!! So keep your fingers crossed for us because we really really need this right now!
Well it's dinner time, and I told momma she could use my computer so I've got to go now. Caio and Blessed Be!
