My friend Mo

I don't think that I know my friend at all.

She and I used to be best-friends. She lived 5 miles away from me. We'd spend the night at each other's houses. Our kids were best friends. We take turns babysitting each other's kids. We drove to New Jersey together.

And then she moved away.

I've tried to keep in touch with her. Facebook. Text messages.

She has gone in a totally different direction in her life. And not a good one.

She has been arrested for stealing. She's doing drugs. Her oldest daughter lives in Florida and is having a baby next month. But the daughter doesn't want to move back home with my friend. Her middle child, another girl, just had a baby in August, and she doesn't want to live with her mother. Her teenage son, just turned 18. He had moved in with his father (who lives a mile or two down the road from me) last month.

She recently wrote on Facebook that she was homeless and she was staying in a shelter.

I just called her to see how she is doing.

She told me that she is now in an apartment and she is ENGAGED.

Okay, that wouldn't be such a shocker if she had previously been going out with this guy. If he had helped her when she was down and out. If I had even heard a MENTION of the guy. But, a week after living in a shelter, she is now living with the man and engaged to him?

And she doesn't want to hear my opinion.

My husband has told me that I should just let her go. She seems to want that too.
