20 weeks! We are half way there! I have another ultrasound scheduled for Thursday. Hopefully Emily will let the doctor finish taking her measurements.
We went to visit my parents this weekend. My mom looked good and everyone's spirits were high so we had a great visit. When I got there, my parents had three adorable pink outfits, some little pink socks, and a card waiting for me on my bed. It was really sweet. My dad is over the moon about having a granddaughter. I ran some errands with my parents and picked up Scott a new pair of gardening gloves. My mom and I did some catching up and then we wall went out to dinner at my favorite restaurant. Afterward, we went for a drive in the country, told stories, and passed by my childhood farm. How I miss that place, but there is no way that my parents could keep up with it now.
My brother came over for lunch on Sunday and then we all went to visit my grandmother. She was happy to have company but she didn't seem to know who we were. I have never seen her look so poorly or feeble. It made my heart ache. She really isn't doing well.
We drove home after that and picked up the dogs ( we boarded them for the weekend). They had a great time and the "camp counselors" said they were well behaved. We spied on the girls a couple of times using the online doggie cams and they looked like they played pretty much the entire time they were there. They were exhausted when we got them home- literally. Greta pretty much got on the tile rolled over on her back and fell asleep. And clean. We had them bathe the dogs and do their nails so they would be nice and clean when we picked them up. That's always a good thing because it means we won't have Greta and Pearl Hair all over the place.
Some one came to look at the house while we were gone and really liked it and said they are considering it. That was encouraging. Tomorrow we are having professional pictures taken of the house. It's a good thing it is already clean!
I just ordered some books from amazon. They were a little cheaper on CBD, but we have free shipping on amazon so it made up for the difference in price.
Beautiful Girlhood by Karen Andreola- I ordered this since we are having a little girl. My mother and I read this together when I was little. When Emily is older I'll order the workbook and we will complete it together. It's a wonderful read for anyone that has girls. I am really excited to share my homeschooling background and my childhood values with Emily
Shepherding a Child's Heart by Ted Tripp- My mother read this one when we were children and recommended it. I know that there is controversy concerning this book, but I've read other controversial parenting books and found myself really liking them.
What The Bible Says About Parenting Biblical Principle For Raising Godly Children by John MacArthur . I don't anything about this one, but I liked what people were saying on the reviews.
Scott and I are currently reading:
The Shaping of a Christian Family by Elisabeth Elliot. I love reading anything by Elisabeth Elliot.
What the Bible Says About Child Training (2nd Edition) by J. Richard Fugate. We are about half way through this one and so far have really liked it.
The Mans Role in the Home and The Woman's Role in the Home both by Tony Evans. We've read these before, but we are giving ourselves a refresher course.
Scott and I love to read and discuss together. It's a habit we have developed a long time ago and something we enjoy. I am very grateful to have a husband who is a wonderful spiritual leader.
That's our current joint reading list. I am also reading some other books for fun on my own. I guess you can say we really like books in our household. I've been having to sort through them and get rid of some of them in preparation for our move. I can't stand clutter and I am really good at going through and getting rid of pretty much anything except for books. I don't know why but I have such a hard time getting rid of books but I do. Oh well, I suppose it is a necessary evil.
Speaking of necessary evils I have some laundry and tidying up to do. Have a great day everyone! |
