Ok I have a super prayer request.
Before we started having complications we planned on banking Emily's cord blood. We didn' t think about it much with all the preterm labor stuff we have had.
Scott called a local bank today and there may be a chance at this point that we can mine Emily's cord blood and placenta for stem cells. We have to get our doctors opinion and if he says yes we have to do some super faxing of paper work and pray I don't go into labor during the next few days.
Why is this so important? If Emily is a match, they can use Emily's cord blood and stem cells to treat my mom's cancer. Scott talked to them about our situation with my mom and there could be up to a 50% chance that Emily could be a match and these stem cells are ideal for treating my mom's type of cancer.
If my mom's oncologist faxes them a letter saying that the stem cells could be useful in her treatment, the cord blood bank will cover all costs, regardless of whether or not Emily is a match.
It would take a miracle to make all of this happen, but there is currently no treatment available for my mom, short of something like this. Miracles do happen and I figure that this is worth a try and prayers. We will see what the doctor says tomorrow. |
