Yesterday I had an annicial meeting with a job specialist at the Carroll Center for the Blind to see if I want to work with her to find me a job.
After that is a meeting with a computer tec person over there to try to figure out why my computer is not reading a form I need to fill out for work or rather, why it slows down to the point of freezing when I try to read that document.
(side note: there is a service that is offered by the state of massachusetts that offers people with disabilities and elderly a ride service. It is simular to a taxi but you need to make your appointments at least 24 hours in advance. It cost only 2 bucks a ride. So I take it to get to work or school. They are also zoned off. so if you get to a certain point, you need to switch companies.
I took the ride to get me there and back. It takes 2 hours to get there and 2 hours to get back by the ride. (normally 25-30 min ride by car) I met with the computer guy first. After
running virus checkers and updating things, he annicially could not figure out why that one document was slowing down the computer. Running the document in question, took up 73 percent of the computer usage and as he tabbed down the page, it increased. Later on, he did the same thing without the jaws (Jaws = speach program) and the usage was 0 percent and was able to tab through "click click click" just like that. So, he believes it's the jaws that is causing it. He suggest I down load the trial jaws version 11, I only have version 9, and see if that makes a difference. If that does, have MCB (massachusetts comish for the blind) pay for jaws 11. So I called
my rep at MCB, and told her the situation. She said no problem, she just needs to know how much and where to go to get it. So I'm sending her that info this week end and her boss will sign off on it that day and within 2 weeks I should have the newest jaws.

The job thing is a different situation. I met with the person and except for the woman being able to network with me, because she knows some people in
some places, she would be doing simular things that I would be doing at home myself. She said that if I want to meet with her again,, the state has to pay. So I inform my rep at MCB about that too. However, it would be a 6 month contract and plus traveling there and back 4 hours to meet with her for 1 hour, not sure how well that would work for me. However, it is up to me.
One of my drivers said to me that he writes musics lyrics. I asked him what he does after he has a song written. He says he gets a copy write on the lyrics. I never thought of that. I was just going to send my poems to a publishing company. He told me about the process and and after I told him I write poems, he said I should have them copy written. I am going to look into that more.
Next week is an exciting week for me.
Monday I am going to a basketball game with my twin. We got tickets to see my favorite player, Jason Kidd, play in Boston. I'm excited about that.
Tuesday: there is a special election for the vacated seat that the late Ted Kennidy held for about 50 years. I'll go vote... I guess. Then I am working.
Wednesday, will be the completion of one of my Chanukah gifts. I get to pick a Redsox game from a selected list as part of my redsox nation membership.
Wednesday night: my mom got a free night stay at my favorite casino. So we'll go down wednesday afternoon and my parents will go into the steamer and sit by the pool for a bit while I rest in the hotel room.
Hopefully I'll win some money but if not, it will be relaxing and fun for me.
We'll get home in time for me to go to work on Thursday.
