623 hockey game Texas Atlanta and reconnecting with an old friend 3 14 14
Last night I went to my first Hockey game of the year. I go to one a year with my twin. For me it’s more about just hanging out with him without family around.
The Bruins played the Coyotes. The Bruins had a 6 game winning streak going in. They are also the best team in the East where the coyotes are out of the playoff race in the west. I did know about 7 players for the Bruins. The Bruins scored 2 in the first period and the Coyotes scored 1 in the 3rd and that was the game. There was no fighting. Not many penalties.
It was sorta boring but still nice to get out with just my twin.
My tickets for the Texas Rangers Boston Red sox in Texas came in the mail. I also got a prepaid parking spot. I’m so excited to go down to Texas. I can’t wait for that. To have no stress. No responsibilities and hang out with Lisa and her little fam and see what adventure we can get our self into. … LOOK OUT! BELOW!
HELLO STADIUM #21!
OMG! So I booked my flight for Atlanta.
I’m going down on May 2nd and returning on Sunday 4th and we’re going to the Braves-Giants game on the 3rd and whatever else we do…well, I do want to go to the Coke factory but besides that, I don’t care what else we do.
Back in 2001 when I first got onto the opened diary…whatever that was called I had met this young lady who we became pretty close. I hate to say this, but she was my Karen before Karen as far as the one who I could say anything to and could say anything to me. There was never anything beyond friendship. She was too young. (just like most of you when I first met you lol)
I don’t recall how or why we stopped talking. We use to chat on aim and I got to know her sister pretty well too and chatted with her as well. Her sister was I believe 2 years older.
Well, on Sunday night for whatever reason, I was thinking of her. (I was lonely-alone?) and did a search on FB to see if I could find her. Usually I wouldn’t bother since if there is more than one person with the name, you have to see the pic to tell who it is. However, I put in her name and I was shocked that there was only one person with her name but she had a hyphenated last name so I that…that, that’s cool. She’s married. I could not send her just a message and I couldn’t read her timeline but I could look at her pics. Obviously that wouldn’t do anything for me but there was notes on the pics and I saw one note was from “Rikki” and that was her sister’s name so now I know I definitely have the right person…should I send a friend request…should I not…She hasn’t tried to contact me… maybe she forgot about me… Maybe she doesn’t want to hear from me… I sent the request. The worse she can do is ignore it.
I woke up and I got two messages from Dominique. (BTW, I love that name…ok, so it’s the name of my fav basketball player growing up but still)
She was happy to hear from me. She tried to find me on FB a few times but couldn’t think of how to spell my last name. All day Monday we sent text messages but she was at work so they were few apart. She came up with an idea to write a bio for each other on what happened over the last 10 years. I agreed to that. She asked if I wanted the short or detailed version. I said detailed, it doesn’t matter if it takes a week…or two.
So we’ve texted for most of the last few days but again, the texes would come like an hr apart or more sometimes less.
So far what I have learned is that she lives with an x. She can’t afford to move out yet. She has 3 children. one with the x and two with a guy who she was married to for a short time. She is an admin and is in school to be an accountant because she needs to make more than this to support her kids.
I thought the strangest question she asked was “can I have your address so I can send you a Christmas card?” lol ummm Christmas is 9 months away? But sure. She means this coming year but it just sounds funny. Instead of asking for my address and stopping there she asked so she could send me Christmas card.
I asked her if her voice is on her voice mail. She wasn’t shore. I wanted to hear her voice. I called it and it was an automatic voice. She said call my work number, my voice is on that. Hey, she offered. It was her being all soft and professional. Yes, I know, it was for work lol.
She works in the area of the Arizona’s diamondback’s stadium. I asked if I can come visit. She said as soon as she gets rid of the X from the house. . lol that would be pretty cool. Plus she loves going to Disney land with her kids. She says it’s her escape from the world. I said maybe you can take me there too. She said maybe.
Unfortunately, I think I am hoping for that awesome relationship back, like I had with her all those years ago or… with… HER but I have to try not to do that to her or myself. It’s just so hard when you are so alone-lonely.
