686 birthday with uncle joey grant writing Maddison Rose sis team concert 2 27 15

Grant writing: I think I found my next attempt of a career.
I was looking on monster.com for a job and out of curiosity, I put “writer” in the search box. Up came a grant writer. I have pondered it once before but never looked into it. I love writing. I enjoy doing research and I take great enjoyment giving people money so they can see out a dream they have. I looked at some sample grant proposals and to me, it’s quite easy. There’s a lot of work involved but it seems easy to me. I did a lot more research and I even looked into taking a class in “the A to Z of grant writing”. Although I would like to take the class at a college, it maybe better if I do it as an on line class. I have never taken an on line class and I’m skeptical but I’ve talked to two people who have taken on line classes, a coworker of mine and my BFF, and they both say it’s easy. They told me how the quizzes go and about the on line forum you write in. I’m not sure if the class will be assessable for me and I wrote to the college and we’re looking into it. I’m really excited about this career opportunity.

Maddison Rose: my cousin Michael, the one who was on trial last year for shooting someone in self-defense, got his girlfriend pregnant last year and yesterday morning, well Thursday morning, Maddison Rose was born. I am so happy for Michael. He will be such a great dad. He’s such a big kid himself, a goofy kid. I’m going to get to see my little cousin next weekend. I so can’t wait to hold Maddison Rose.

Beard: I’M PROTESTING THE COLD! What better way than to grow a beard? Lol I haven’t shaved in about a week and a half. My clients are calling me Santa Claus lol. I’ll probably shave it Tuesday. In the world of Jonathan, it will be the first day of spring… The Boston Red Sox play their first spring training game.

Birthday: If you know me, you know my favorite TV show growing up was FULLHOUSE. I was really excited a few days ago when my mom asked me if I wanted to see a comedy on my birthday. She read me the person’s short bio without telling me the person’s name… He did voices for the Muppets (and named a bunch of them) and some other cartoon. (I was lost for who it could be) “he also starred in the TV family show FULLHOUSE” to which I excited said (too excitedly said) JOEY GLADSTONE?” (Mom continued) Dave Coulier will be at the Boston waterfront hotel on February 28th” So… I’m going to see Joey Gladstone, Uncle Joey on my birthday…how cool is that?

My sister’s wife posted a link to my FB page of an interview he did with Boston radio morning host Matty Siegel. In this interview I learned something that shocked me about Dave…He dated Alanis Morissette. If that wasn’t shocking enough, the heart wrenching song “You aughta know!” was about Dave Coulier break up with her.

During the day, my family (including me lol) are going out for Chinese food (shocking, I know) to my favorite restaurant. The surprising part about it, my twin suggested it. I actually wanted to go to a burger place but I won’t complain about going to Royal Garden.

Concert: My mom and I are going to see Gin Blossoms and Sugar Ray for free. Gin Blossoms are one of those group who I enjoy seeing whenever they’re around. They have catchy songs such as “hey jealousy” “found out about you” “Alison road” and “follow you down”. I have seen them about 6 or so times. They’re playing at a casino in RI and my mom got Comp tickets.

Sister’s team: So as many of my longer time readers, those who have read me for at least 8 months loll, know that I have a sister who plays semiprofessional women’s tackle football. The team was owned by a Billionaire car dealership owner. In January, he informed the team that he no longer wants to be an owner. He said that he didn’t like the direction the league was going in. Much to the shock, disappointment and pain, the team decided they want to play on.
They had to change the team name and find sponsors and donations.
They put together a donation page where people could donate. With each level of donation, you would get perks-gifts.
My sister sent out an email which I will post below. I wrote my own post on FB, with the donation link.

Being the awesome older brother I am and knowing how much football means to my sister, I donated about a month of my pay, giving me the highest level of donation. (I only work about 24 hours a months, not a real lot but it’s still a month of my pay) I even sent a message to my freshman college roommate who has a financial company, based in Texas but has clients all over, and asked him if he wants to be a sponsor. I told him they would announce his company over the PA system and he would get a spot in the program book for an advertisement. I think and told him, it would be a win-win situation. I hope he helps out.

When my sister saw my donation posted the following day, which had my signature saying “GO #50! GO BOSTON RENEGADES! GO CRAZY!” (50 = sis number, Renegade is team name)
She sent me a text that just said “thank you” Knowing what she was thanking me for but wanted to say something else, I said “thank you for what? I have lots on my mind” she wrote back “for donation” I write back to her “You are very welcome. Besides, I would like to see a Dodgers game” (the championship game this coming year will be in Los Angeles) She wrote back saying “Me too”

What it would mean to me to see my sister play in LA and to capture yet another baseball stadium…it may cost me an arm, a leg and some future kids but it would so be worth it.

My sister’s email-letter
My dear friends, family, co-workers, strong people and everyone else
As you probably know by now, I play for Boston’s women’s tackle football team. We are the defending national champions of the Women’s Football Alliance, and last month we were just beginning our first practices of the 2015 season when everything changed overnight: the team’s owner, who had funded the last seven seasons, suddenly decided to discontinue his involvement in women’s football entirely.

Many people thought that our season — and, quite possibly, our team — was done.

But we weren’t ready to quit. The team wasn't ready to be done and neither was I. In the last 10 years I have won 3 Super Bowls, have been MVP of the All-Star game and have been named an All-Star 8 times. Football has been a huge part of my life. For the past 10 seasons I have made some amazing friends and made a thousand memories along the way. My life is forever changed because of football.

I wasn’t the only one willing to fight for this. My team, our alumni and our amazing fans and community have stepped up enormously: together, we have revived the team as the Boston Renegades and I am so proud to say that right now we have a full coaching staff, a game schedule, and an amazingly tough and motivated group of players.

What we don’t have is funding. We are reaching out to potential corporate sponsors, but we desperately need help paying for the bare-bones operation costs of the team until then. Practice space, helmets, getting a whole football team to Philadelphia next month — six weeks ago, none of us had any idea that we would need to come up with the money for these things.

It’s never easy to ask someone for money, but there is just no way we will be able to make this season happen without help. Could you please take a moment and look at our Friends and Family sponsorship levels on our fundraising site here? http://youcaring.com/bostonrenegades any dollar amount helps.
If you have a business and are interested in being a business sponsor, please let me know as well.

Your support would be so greatly appreciated. Please be a part of this amazing season along with me.

Love,
Amanda "Alpo" #50

p.s. Here is an article that recently ran in the Boston Globe about the team; read it and you’ll see again why this so means so much to me: http://goo.gl/DBOZzU

I am just going by what the school counselor told us when we had a conference.

Yeah me too, but it's hard when you are not on the same page with your spouse I want to get her counseling and he don't. He makes the overall decisions in Kalya's life cause he is her bio dad. Being a stepmom is difficult. Thank you for your input

I still think the grant writer thing is worth looking into and getting info about. I say give it a shot. I don't care what anyone else says. There's gotta be a market for it somewhere, otherwise there wouldn't be classes for it.

Yay for new babies! So exciting, and what a pretty name!

It was 41 degrees here and it was raining..which melted the snow..and now we have solid sheets of ice and freezing rain. Oh yay. I'm protesting winter in general.

That's so awesome you saw Uncle Joey! I'm glad your birthday was good.

I hope your sister gets enough money raised to keep her team going! 10 years is a lot to have to throw away if she doesn't get enough support!
