A good man was taken from us

06/09/2010

My mom just speeded away up the streek. She got a phone call from a good friend of hers, saying her father past away.

Gerry Masters was a very caring man.
He always put his family and close friends before himself.
I did not know him too well. When I would go over their house for bbq's during the summer or for Jewish holidays-temple events, we'd talk sports a little bit.

Sometime last fall, he was diagnosed with some type of terminal cancer.
Before he passed away, he wanted to have a Bar Mitzvah. He never had one. After a few month of studying with the rabbi, he had his bar mitzvah in January. It was one of the most happiest days of his life. Later this year, in October, one of his grand Daughter's are going to be Batz Mitzvahed. Unfortunately, Gerry wont be here in body with us on that day but he sure will be smiling down from the heavens on that Saturday Morning.

G.D bless his soul and the entire Masters' family.

An hour after posting the above sad news, I recieved the following email from my sister in law

Hi everyone,

Below is the email that was just sent out announcing my new position in the Registrar’s office. I am very excited!

Lindsay

I am pleased to announce that Lindsey has accepted the position of Associate Registrar for the College of Professional Studies in the Office of the Registrar effective June 16. In her expanded role, Lindsey will assume responsibility for the admissions, registration and graduation processes and will continue her work with the CPS class offerings. A formal announcement to the wider University community will go out later this month. Please join me in supporting Lindsey as she transitions to her broader responsibilities.

Nina Lillie LeDoyt, EdM
Sr. Associate Registrar
Northeastern University

That is wicked awesome!
You worked very hard for it and you deserve every bit of it.
Congratulations!

Jonathan

Both of these news comes on a day where my family was getting together anyways as it is my mom's birthday.
We're going out for dinner for... Chinese food. (would you expect anything else from my family?)
I bought her a bracelate and some Charms that she picked out for it.
My other sibs are getting a manacure for her, at the place she goes and I think they will pick up another few charms for the bracelet.

Ok, one more edit, because I can and I think this is funny.
My best friend sent the following email to his mother, his wife and myself. His b day is July 6th

The following would be excellent choices for Father's Day/Birthday presents...

Cigars - I usually purchase them from Famous Smoke Shop - Maduro Cigars, Size 6x60. Rocky Patel and Indian Brands or gift cards.
http://www.famous-smoke.com/

Computer - I need a new computer, obviously a brand new computer would be best, but gift cards towards one are excepted.
http://www.apple.com/

XM Radio - I have my suscription paid thru August, but gift cards are also an excellent idea.
http://www.xmradio.com/

All of these items would be used on a daily basis. So they would be perfect. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your time.
John

MY REPLY

I think we’ll get you the following and you’ll like it.
a gift card for McDonalds for 5 bucks.
Front row tickets to Boston Pops
Etable (fruit) flower.

All of these things can only be used once and you could care less about them.
They would be imperfect for you. If you have any questions or concerns, ask Holden. (holding being his year plus old baby.)

Jonathan

HIS REPLY
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

His wife's response
I agree with Jonathan's choices (so does Holden). If this were ME telling YOU what to buy for mothers day/my birthday, you would tell me "you'll get what I give you and you'll like it!!!" So vice versa.

Also, you need to work on your editing. I certainly hope you aren't sending emails with blatant errors like these to people at work:
you wrote "excepted" when it should have been "accepted," and you wrote "suscription" when it should have been "subscription." Doesn't your computer highlight things in red lines when they are spelled incorrectly?? Maybe you DO need a new one...

Isn't it funny the way life works. It is so sad to when someone passes, but then something in life is always there to bring us back to the reality that life goes on. I hope your family is able to enjoy being together in the midst of such chaos. Kowloon's can make any situation feel a little less stressful.

My thoughts and prayers go to the family! So sad

Congrats Lindsay!

HAHA I think it's funny when people write lists like that!

RYC: Some people post pics, but I post interesting updates! For instance, the other day I posted that I wanted to kill Wes for keeping me up with his snoring. It's a nice social networking site. I dig it. There's a lot of visual games etc. I can go research and/or request they make it blind friendly if you'd like.

჻ೋ჻ I give birthday lists too hehehe I've also told my dad for years now that for his birthday and Christmas he has to tell me what he wants. The man literally has had everything and buying for him is like pulling teeth. It's pretty funny making your father give you a birthday list haha ჻ೋ჻
