A hit to my pride, sports stuff and day 2

05/26/2011

Yesterday (Wednesday) was a strange day, both positive and negative for my psyche and my world of sports.

JOB ISSUE

To make a long story short, my dad passed along a phone number of a guy who works for my company to me, who works in the Emergency services team, who is an LMHC licensed counselor.

I called him up and talked for about 15 minutes. He is very down to earth and laid back. I like that a lot. He said he had looked over my resume a bit which my father sent him. His first thought was working in a call center. Which, I didn’t really see how it was counseling but I guess if it is like a help line, it would be. So we talked about my computer technology and about how their network is set up. I was honest, I told him that I was not sure if I would be able to listen to a call, listen to my computer and type at the same time. If I can, I would. He said it was his first thought because it was who he works with most directly. Plus there are people in the call center who are license’s counselors (LMHC)

However, he said that it would be a non-paying position. It would be like an internship.
So… with 2 master degrees, over 1000 hours of internship hours in school and 7 years of experience, I need to take a non-paying position? Talk about swallowing my pride!
He is going to keep asking around, he says he knows a lot of people, to see what else he can come up with if this doesn’t work out.

So later in the day, my mom gets a call from my sister with great news.
(my sister is a guidance counselor at a high school) The principal went to my sister and asked if she wanted to be the director of a summer program. It would be for the month of July. It would be m-th 7:30 to 12:30 and it would pay $30 an hour.

On the outside I was like… that is awesome!
On the inside I was like… what! She has only one master’s degree, two years of experience and someone goes to her to offer her an unbelievable job with pay I will never see?
Why won’t anyone come to me with a job? Why will I be taking a job without pay?

In the world of sports: my red sox beat the Indians (who have the best record in baseball) 14-2!
You should have seen me. I was standing in front of my radeo in my room, listening to to the first inning, as My Boys of Summer, got hit after hit. You'd think I was a 7 year old... I was so excited. I was clapping and cheering. (loudly!)Plus our starting pitcher, John Lester, who not only goes to 7-1, but by career percentage, is now 2 wins better than the next best pitcher with 50 decisions or more in the HISTORY of baseball.

The Boston Bruins, lost in game 6 of the eastern final, 5-4 and now are coming home to a game 7, a winner goes to the Stanly cup and loser… goes home.

In basketball, my favorite player is Jason Kidd. He assisted his team to the NBA finals vs either chi or mia. I’m very excited for him-them.

Day One: 10 different things you want to say to 10 different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you'd never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever) Day Seven: Four turn-offs.
Day Eight: Three turn-ons.
Day Nine: Two images that describe your life right now, and why.
Day Ten: One confession.

Day Two: Nine things about yourself.

1. I am a Cheap SOB… and when there is something I want or want for someone else, I’m not cheap at all and just go buy it. “if it aint broken, why go buy a new one?”

2. This bed which I am laying on. It’s my bed and has been since my twin and I got out of cribs.
That would make it 30 years old and it is still as good as new. (It’s the top half of bunk beds we had) and my mom always threatens to throw it away and get me a “big boys bed” with my money.
When I move out and buy a condo, I will buy new furniture which will include a new bed.

3. My first baseball game I ever went to was on Sept 6th, 1989.

4. I have been to 550 major league sporting events (400 of those being red sox games)*give-take 15*
*does not include spring training games or minor league games

5. I have been going to Disney on ice every year since I was 3 years old except for one year. I was 16 and thought I was too mature. It was one of a handful of regrets I have in my life that I had control over.

6. I have been to about 120 concerts. 1-3rd of those being either Bon Jovi or Blessid union of souls.

7. I have 229 of my own poems in a single word document which covers 371 pages.
I do not, however, have my first poem I ever wrote. It was 8th grade, I was learning about the different types of poems in my English class and we had to write a poem for a homework assignment.
I remember some of it. I wrote it about my favorite baseball player and hero, Nolan Ryan.

“one score and 7 years ago
A pitcher name Ryan started to throw
He through so hard
You could hear it from yard to yard
Players come and players go.
But Nolan Ryan will always throw”

8. I wanted to be a lawyer from the time I was in 7th grade till my last semester of college when I was doing an internship at a Juvenile court house in the probation department.

9. I love the name Stephanie but most of you know that.
I am not sure if you know why I love it though.
Does the name “Stephanie Judith Tanner” ring a bell?
My favorite TV show growing up was Full House. My favorite character was the middle child, Stephanie, played by Jody Sweeten. I thought she was cute, funny, and I loved that mix of “I’m the best and I am going to prove it” and the “sweet, caring, I want to help”…

There is also another reason which no one else knows…till now.
. I went with my family and this other family to an all day concert years ago. The other family, was my sister’s bf at the time and his mother and younger sister. The younger sister, who was considerably younger than I, had that attitude that I always look for in a lady. The type who will just take my hand and say come on we’re going to do… We barely knew each other but she had no problem, coming over to the blanket I was laying on, grabbing my hand, pulling me up and walking me to the front of our section of the outdoor concert venue, to dance with me. We had a great time dancing and her name is Stephanie.

Holy crap. I definitely wouldn't want to put myself through that much schooling to only end up with an unpaid internship. Ridiculous. I really hope you can find something!

So I've been working a lot on Bloop version 3 -- would you care to take a look?

You can see it at new.bloopdiary.com

What is the screen reader you use? I'll have to install it and test it.
