sometimes I wonder when I do something for Karen if it is the right thing to do or if I will do it write or by me saying-doing something if it makes her feel like I'm belittling her cause I would never want to do that. so Thursday and Friday night she had made list of things she needed to pack cause she was going home for Christmas but both times forgot the lists at work. About 20 minutes after we said our good nights on the phone Friday night, I thought...let me text her a list of things she needs to pack. so I did. I sent it, half wondering if I should or not. Here is what the text read: Clothes computer+charger Phone+charger Medications presents toiletries+girly items
When she called me Saturday, on her way to her parents house, (I told her to call me if she wanted company for her 90 minutes ride) I answered the phone saying “WE SURVIVED!!” She laughed harder than I ever heard her laugh before. When she got over her laughter, she thanked me for sending her the list, because she said she would have forgot something. That made me feel really good. She then goes "so what did you mean by girly items?” (my bedroom door was opened so I got up to shut it) I said, you know. She: no, I don’t. ME: ya you do. She: no, I really don’t. do you mean like makeup? ME: I guess. SHE: or did you mean tampons and pads? I said I wasn’t being specific. SHE: cause if you did mean tampon and pads, my time already past. it was December 8th. ME: well SHE: you are embarrassed aren’t you. ME: no. I'm glad to know that stuff, like I said, I want to know everything about you. I have no problem saying tampons and pads when it comes to you.
We were singing to each other and being silly for most of the ride.
I will start this next story by saying… you know how I have been telling her that if neither of us are either married or engaged in two years that I would come to Indiana and kidnap her and her dog?
I told her that I had went to boston.com to check the weather and the real estate second caught my ear. I was curious as I did once before a few months ago, and compared prices of homes in MA vs. IN and KY. I told her that the average houses in MA went for about 250k-300k compared to 70K-130k in the other states. I continued, by saying it would take about 10 years to pay off a house in Indiana compared to 20-25 years in MA.
K: I’m going to kidnap you and bring you back to Indiana
J: (laughed) what? You are going to come to my house with two big boxes and tell me to fill them up and then take me back to Indiana?
K: yup
J: I would love to see that in writing.
K: ok, no problem. I will write it in Braille and send it to you.
J: ooookkkk. Although it would be easier for you to kidnap me than for me to kidnap you.
NOW, I know that may sound like she was joking? But for her to say that, for her to suggest it almost out of nowhere, and to switch this dream around? It made me feel good. I mean, she didn’t have to bring it up but she did.
PLUS, I have come to recognize a tone of voice of Karen’s that lets me know she is serious. When she calls me from work, the few times she had, she had this serious tone in her voice…She had that tone in her voice when she was telling me the above.
Somewhere along the ride I had brought up something I was thinking of the night before but didn’t tell her but told her on the ride…
Karen went to a store on her way home from work Friday night to pick up some last minute things. When she was in the store, she was looking at jewelry, I didn’t think I said anything and she goes "whaaat?" I said "what? I didn’t say anything" "I know you are thinking of something" she's good. I told her that I wasn’t thinking of anything... I was thinking of two things that people said to me as it pertains to Karen and jewelry this week and those popped in my head. I told her about this first one…a commercial came on for a store having a sale on jewelry and the one they talked about on the commercial was diamond earrings for only 39.99. I was like wow! my mom told me that they are chipped and fragmented diamond. if you wanted to buy Karen a pair of earrings, I wouldn’t let you buy those. Karen goes “your mom is awesome…but she’s still colorblind” we laughed.
the other, my friend Lisa was teasing me about the gift I got Karen and she said "what? too early for a ring?" I said with a laugh, "that will be next year for Christmas" I know that won’t happen…or will it?
The sweater I bought her...she told me that she is going to wear it to her grandparent’s tomorrow. (Sunday) She had texted me this morning (Sunday) on her way to her grandparents that her parents loved the sweater I got her.
*random things from the 2 previous night’s phone calls
I told her that I was bored today, and so did something I was meaning to do...she has "sports asthma" so I looked it up to see what it was about.
it's called exercise asthma, (I am jumping off the bridge assuming it's the same thing) So for her it's whenever she does strenuous exercise but cold-dry air and pollution makes it even worse.
On Karen’s FB post Friday night, she had wrote lyrics to a Christmas song about going home for Christmas. The lyrics mentioned a mistletoe. I texted her the following: Saw ur xMas post. Love 2 meet u under the mistletoe
she didn’t respond so I asked her on the phone
J: did you see my last text message?
K: (laughed) yes, you naughty boy
J: what? like you wouldn’t like it?
K:of course I would.
K: you know you love me
J: What?
K: you heard me, you know you love me
J: well, yes but do you love me?
K: well duh
