318. Admiring the night

Shhh, I want to write something for you
Well, it’s really for me but I want you to read it too
I got me a pen and paper and well
Here we go, I hope you think it’s swell
(Did I really just use the word swell?)
I went a-walking
It was a cold evening
The fresh snow crunching beneath my worn down sneakers
I wasn’t looking for a man on the corner speaking
I wasn’t seeking fortune or fame
Or a pick up neighborhood football game
I actually wasn’t all that sure why I was out in this cold
Not dressed properly, I should have listened to what I was told
The street light shines my way
The way to a brighter day
Hmm if I keep following the lights it will bring me to the sun
Although walking all night wouldn’t be fun
The houses are all dark
No dogs bark
A car passes me now and then
Hmmm my ink is running out, I need a new pen
Ok, I am back
I got a snack
I would share with you
But this is written a long long time ago, it’s true
The stars shine brightly somewhere
It’s cloudy out tonight, so they don’t shine here
It’s a dark night
I already said that, right
In-between the music, the angels take their flight
During the commercials, I get another crystal light
Staying within the lines, I colors are light
Where did my character go? Hope he didn’t get lost in the night
