anniversary, b day and the 4th

07/01/2010

Thanks fellow bloopers for the get well wishes.
Monday was my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We had never done anything before but Sunday my dad came to me and got really upset. I very rarely see him get upset. Maybe 5 times in my life I seen him get that upset. He asked me if I knew that tomorrow was there anniversary. I said I did. He said that he talked to Justin ( my twin) and Justin said that he knew was planning on stopping by one night for dinner and giving them a card. My dad said, if it was one of our birthdays or something that they would drop everything to make sure we had something. I told him that I don’t remember us doing something with the family for their anniversary. He said that even if we don’t, it would be nice if you kids did something for us. (still in the upset-loud tone)
So I sent an email to my sibs telling them what dad had said and asking them what they thought. We all agreed that we could go out Wednesday for dinner and we could pick up the check and we would all get cards.
Mom didn’t understand why we were going out and said cards would have been good enough. I told her that dad had made us feel bad, really bad. We took them out to this nice stake restaurant. I got just a salad and picked on the appetizers. I was hungry but couldn’t taste any of my food since I was sick so didn’t bother ordering a stake. It was very nice and they thanked us a few times.

I need to explain something so people understand the magnitude of this next part.
Andre Agassi, the great and colorful tennis player from the 90’s was my twin brother’s idle. (along with Ronny Lott, but that’s for a different day)

Every time his match was on TV, we’d be watching it. Every time he came out with a new line of clothing or sneaker, my twice would buy it. (no matter how bad it looked) He only wears Nike because of Agassi. He played tennis and went to a tennis camp and played for the hs team. When he played hs football, his nickname was Agassi.

In a one line email from my twin yesterday , he wrote:
Monday, February 28th, 2011, Madison Square Garden, NY. Agassi vs Sampras. The other Match is John McEnroe vs Ivan Lendl.
My email response:
I had to read that line about 5 times before I believed what I was reading.
Not a bad way to celebrate our “33!” b day. Tennis and the French restaurant.
His reply:
keep in mind it is a Monday night, so that means I would have to take two days off of work. but then again, this is Agassi vs samprass. and i think I read it is best of 3 sets, so that is a full match. and not sure if we would ever have a chance to see this after this match. tickets dont go on sale until September so we have some time.

And If someone was to ask me if I could eat dinner at any restaurant in the world for my birthday, what restaurant would it be...I wouldnt have to give it a thought.

The next question is, are the Knicks and/or NY Rangers playing on Sunday afternoon? That day I definitely dont have to work.

My last response just said that I signed up for a pre-sale email for the tennis event.

It’s just unreal that on our birthday, feb 28th, that Agassi will be playing at MGS.
It will be just another big event that I will do with my twin brother.
In August, we’re going to Canton OH, to see my football fav, Mr. Rice, get inducted into the football hall of fame. The next day we’re driving to Pittsburg to see a pirates game to add to my list of baseball stadiums I’ve been to then back to Canton that night for the annual hall of fame game, which kicks off preseason in football.

Every 4th of July, for the last 28 years, my family goes away to Gloucester. (known for fishmen and where the movie “a perfect storm” was taped)
We use to rent a hotel room till we were teenagers, then we got our own room and about 8 years ago, we started renting a house 3 doors down from the beach. It’s a split house, the bottom floor has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom (which has a washer-drier) and up stairs it is all opened but the right of the stair well is the kitchen, left is the living room and along the back is the other half of the living room and the tables-chairs to eat at.

So it’s my family, my best friend John, his wife and their baby then a bunch of my sister’s friends. Usually we cram between 15-20 people any given night. Depends on how many of my sister’s friends crash.

There is a parade on the 3rd in Gloucester. After that we go to an awesome pizza place for dinner and then at about 9, there is fireworks in the ocean which the restaurant is on a street that leads to the ocean. So we all go down to watch the fireworks. On the forth, we go to the Rockport parade, the next city over, and at the end of this parade we are at the water’s edge, where there is a stack of wood about 30 ft high and they put an outhouse on top of that and about 9pm, the firemen set it on fire and we have a very nice and hot bond fire which, my best and I try to stand as close as possible at all times till I feel the hairs on my legs start to burn. Lol
We head to friends of the family from there for a bbq. Then depending on the day, people start going home the next day but my parents have the house for two weeks.

I wont be on line for a few days because they don’t have internet connection up there.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July

I've tried to get into tennis. I think it's much more fun to play than to watch. Wes just loves it though.

ryc: The good reason a women would read it is to learn how to defend and to look out for men like Bundy. Seriously. Also i'm in to the phsycological part of it and Bundy dosn't scare me. I don't easly scare unless it's The EXcersies.
