Chanukah 7-8 with fam

12/19/2009

So I hear that the east coast is getting a blizard? We're suppose to get a foot of snow. oo it's the end of the world as we know it, but I feel fine.

I am sorry to report that I have not been keeping up on lifting weights at night. However, I am keeping up with running the tredmill every morning. Usually it's between 30-40 minutes. Sometimes it is less but today, I could not believe I ran for 50 minutes. I was just listening to my music and after every song or every two songs I turned the speed up a notch and on the last song, the last few minutes I turned it down to a walk. but... yay for being on the tredmill for 50 minutes.

ok ok, I know you are dying to hear about my last two nights of Chanukah. Dont pull your panties up too much. You may hurt yourself.

7th night of Chanukah.

My mom thought it a good idea, since my sister was going out with friends from work, my dad was going out with one of his friends, that me and her invite ourselves over to her sister's house and we would pick up chinese food along the way for everyone. So, that is what we did. My mom picked me up from work, we went to a chinese restaurnat and ordered some food and took it with us to my aunt's. We enjoyed a nice dinner with my aunty Sarah, cousin Bryan, cousin Heidi and little cousin Jalen who's 11. Jalen was in his normal playful mood. (he's either playful or he's tired. no inbetweens.) He gave me a big hug and he puts food on my dish... he knows what I like. He tried my spicy string beans that he was a bit draumatic over how spicy it was but afterwards he said that they did taste good. My cousin bryan, who is 43, has some mental health issues and substance abuse issues, was over. It is always nice to see him. He is really funny in a crude way. However, he treats everyone equal. He'll make fun of everyone so it's all good. However, he told us a story that really turned the tables on him.

So he lives in a YMCA with others who are in his situation. He was telling us that he went out bowling and then dinner with a group of them earlier this week. Bryan admits to reading and watching the movie with the vampire. He had not seen the latest one and he, who I will remind you, is 43, is going to see the new moon (is that what it is called?) with a female friend of his who is... only 22. He wants to go but didnt want to seem like a perv, going to see that movie alone and sitting in the theater with a bunch of teenage girls. So the lady he's going with, is the quiet type. She sounds beautiful. She is tall, thin, and long hair. ... Anywho, the funny part is they were talking about going to see the move, the group of people at dinner and from the other side of the long table, the shy lady says "so bryan, how does it feel to be a 16 year old girl"

I was folded over laughing my butt off after he relayed that story.

We then lit the candles. Heidi handed me the shamash lit and after a minutes of me just holding it, she goes "do you need help?" um no heidi, I am going to try to light candles myself? ... but I didnt say that. I just said yes. So I lead the prayers. (and good thing, I was the only one who knew all the words)

The Chanukah man got Jalen a redsox wallet. I was so jealous. I want one of those. In the wallet was already a 5 dollar bill. He was really excited. I got another cd I asked for. "in a different life" a new cd by everclear where they take their famous songs and plays-sings them in a different way. It is pretty cool. We watched some of the SNL christmas special. Then my mom and I said our byebyes.

8th night of Chanukah

My older brother, robert, invided us up to his place. I'll skip over the dumbass stuff he says-does. let's just refer to what my father says about him. "It's the world according to Rob"

So it is my parents, my twin justin and his wife lindsay myself and rob. my sister was at a comidy night with her friends.

We ordered Chinese food. We ordered enough food for 10 people. Good thing I was hungry and it was Chinese food. We had all my favorites. I was a happy camper. We lit the minorah and said the blessings. This time I did not have to lead, just be a part of the chanting. We got our final gifts from the Chanukah man. I was handed a gift bag. In the gift bad on top was the tissue paper. Under that was a jersey. As soon as I touched it I had this humungis smile on my face. ... In sports, I have favorite players for various reasons. When I started watching sports 20 years ago, my favs were Nolan ryan, (my hero), Wayne Gretzki, Donaniquic wilkans and Geri Rice. In the early 90's, I knew I had to find new favorite players as they were all near the end of their careers. In baseball it was Ivan Pudge Rodriguez, in basketball it was Jason Kidd, in hockey there wasnt and in football, well, Geri Rice played a lot longer then I thought he would so didnt replace him. Now, in the last 2 years, I came to the realization that my favorite players are getting old and I will need a new generation of favorite players. In Baseball it will be Steven Strasburg, in basketball I have not put a clame on anyone, but this year, I am really liking this rookie brenon Jennings. So he has potencial. In hockey it is sidnee crosby and two years ago, I was watching a texas Tec game and I was just blown away by this beast of a wide reciever as a freshman. I watched a few more games of his when ever it came on tv or by his sofemore season, if his game was not on tv, I would follow his numbers every week in the boxscores. This kid declared for the nfl draft, however, he got a broken foot in the last game he played. He had surgery right away but he was not ready to workout for the NFL scouts when it was time. Because of this, a lot of teams shied away from drafting him. I was so excited when Mihael Crabtree was drafted to my favorite team, the sf 49ers. It was a match made in Jonathan's heaven. So I asked for his jersey for Chanukah. When I looked on nflshop.com it said that it would take 4 weeks to ship. So even if I got it, it would be an "IOU"

I opened the bag and touched a football jersey, I was soooo excited that I got a Michael Crabtree #15, sf 49ers jersey. I was beside myself with joy. I was just holding it. Lindsay goes "put it on. let's see it on you." so I did. I was a happy little camper.

My twin handed me a bag. There was two pieces of paper. I was like... great! I got two pieces of paper for Chanukah. He laughed and said, "ya, but what is on the paper is what you will like more" My jaw dropped opened when he told me. ... For those who dont follow sports at all. Two years ago on new years day, they played a hockey game outside that was a huge hit. They did it last year and this year it is in my fenway park. I'm not going to the actual game betweens the bruins and fliers, but the next day they are having a "ledgeon game" where they are going to have some old time bruin players along with some stars of other professions play a hockey game and that is what I'm going to. For me, it is not so much the game itself, but just that I will be able to say I was at a hockey game in fenway park. ... in January.

I had a very nice Chanukah.
There was no miricles but this year brought a lot of smiles, family, and good food.
Until next year, Thank you Chanukah man
