It sure doesn’t feel like baseball time
11-3-2010
Jonathan
I took the green line to Kenmore square
Hoping there will be a baseball game there
It was quarter of seven
I had my Red Sox jacket on and a fitted hat, I am going to heaven
Coming out from the train station
It was dark out, maybe mother nature is on vacation?
No one was around
No sausage venders to be found
I walk down Lansdowne street
I was wondering where’s the summer heat
And why is Yawkee store closed?
The Citgo sign was dim
I was feeling a bit grim
I walked up to where the ticket window should be
And that’s when it hit me
I’m shivering cold with this spring jacket on
The grates are down, Fenway’s employees are gone
A tear falls from my eye
I turn away and whisper “good bye”
I walk into an empty Boston Beerworks and sit at the bar
A few locals are here for an after work drink, Rondo’s on TV, he’s the C’s number onestar
“what will it be tonight?”
A blueberry beer will be alright
A minute later it is in front of me
“You are down about baseball being over I can see”
I nod my head and softly say, no more tessie
No seventh inning stretch with take me out to the ballgame
Or sweet Caroline, it just wont be the same
I pay my tab and head on out
Passing by Fenway park I smile and then shout
GO REDSOX!
… and the croud echoes back “GO RED SOX!
