I'm writing this at 3AM so please excuse anything that doesn't look right.
What a crazy day.
For those who have not been reading me very long... On January 20th, 2011, a client of mine killed a coworker of mine and it is finally! going to court.
Today I, along with 2 others in my company met with the DA. Our lawyer was present along with, surprisingly, 3 police officers. The DA had us all the this confrense room first to explain generally what was going to happen today and during the trial. Today he would ask for some background so if we get called to testify, the juries will have a background on us. Then he would ask us general questions ...he said he would have a better idea by days end who would be and wouldn't be called.
I was the first to interviewed so my co-company mates? (my boss, two bosses above her, and the head of HR) went down stairs
The DA asked me the following...I'll try to write down as much as I can recall.
What is your name
What is your professional background, (basicly my resume)
Did you know the defendant. did you know the victom.
When did you first meet them. (these q's were all asked indevisually,, with follow up q's)
Did you know anything about his mental status.
Was there anything that concerned you?
How did defendant act in your present?
Did you notice anything unusual that week?
Did you take any notes? how-where were they filed?
How did you find out about the incident?
hmm that was pretty much the big picture questions without getting into the detailed questions. But it took about 20 minutes.
OH, and one of the officers asked me a few questions as well.
As you can probably imagine, although I was extremely calm on the outside, except for some questions I didn't know if I should answer and my lawyer said I could. I was a bundle of nerves just waiting to burst. I was so tensed on the inside. Having to remember him, remember her and the days leading up to the date including the date...ug.
I got an email from my lawyer later on in the day, about 5:30, saying that I will be asked to testify. my nerves spiked for a moment but I know I will be ok.
It will either be one of the follow days...oct 9-10-11-15.
My twin brother and his best friend, who was up from FL by way of TX. So we walked a few miles to some restaurant that just had wraps. I wasn't too
thrilled, I've never been there but my bro really wanted to go so we went. I got a terryachi wrap, which had steak, peppers and onions with rice then an asian wrap that had Chinese veggies with rice and what suppose to have been a Tai peabut sauce, but it didn't taste like it. It was pretty good though but they weren't filling. After lunch we walked a bit more while to where ever the car was parked.
We went back to my house and hung out for a few hours. Justin got to play with his dog...Justin's son Devin is ellergic to dogs so we have been dog sitting for 6 months now? not sure what's going to happen in the long term though but it was nice to see Justin and Lucic playing and running around. It was fun for me to hear Justin talking about movies quotes music and concerts with his best friend. I felt left out, since I don't listen to many movies and they like slightly different music than I but it was still nice for me to have company besides hanging with my parents and my best friend. They left about 4pm to go over my sister's new house so Jared can hang out with her at her new house. which I have yet to go to..
I talked to my dad about the meeting with the lawyers. My best friend called ...he called a bunch of times so in short, he got the job with new balance, the sneaker company. He'll be moving on from Converse, the sneaker company. He will be designing kids' sneakers. So if you see kids sneakers with either flames or skulls or flaming skulls, they will prob be from his hands lol cause that's the kind of stuff he likes. He asked me how much I make, I have no idea why, but he did. He told me he will be getting a raise of 12,000 dollars plus his health care is 500 dollars less a month so that's like an 18K raise from what he had been making and he was doing pretty good. So basicly, what he makes in two weeks, I make in a year.
He was also calling to go out for dinner. I eventually decided to go with him and the kids for dinner. We went to Friendly's, an icecream-restaurant. I cant think of any national restaurants to compare it to. So we went out, he told me more about the job and we talked about tomorrow (well, today now lol) it's Holden's birthday party. His son that's turning 5 ... who turned 5 on Tuesday.
speaking of that, one of his phone calls I asked him if he got a card for his only real nephew, Lisa's son Devin, his response was "No, when is his birthday" I said "today" he said "I guess I should send him one" mmhhmm would be a good idea.
I didn't tell John but I got Devin a card and a $25 gc for toysRus.
I sorta feel a little bad that I think I got Holden the best gift. A lot of the other people going to the party got him gift cards. John got him a video game. He started playing soccer this year, so I got him a kid's soccer set that comes with a goal and a ball.
hmm what else is going on.
I was going to post an entry of songs in my head over the last few weeks concerning Karen and the shit she put me through, but I didn't.
Two of the songs I was thinking of posting was "blessed union of souls's, light in your eyes" and "tiffany's, could have been"
The anger is starting to not hurt as much but the sadness for losing the friend is still there strong. After leaving the lawyer's office today, I wanted to call her and hear her angelic voice to calm me. I felt sad but there is nothing I can do.
I am excited that my boston redsox have the best record in all of baseball and with 2 games left in the regular season, they may end up the best. Not too bad considering before the season we were picked to finish last in the Eastern devision. I'm hoping to get playoff tickets for the the first game. That will give my mind a huge much needed break.
In 2 weeks from tomorrow, tomorrow being Sunday, my sister will be a married woman. I cant wait for the wedding. the reseption should be fun. It's the biggest eedding I ever been to by far. They're having between 250-270 people. I cant wait to get on the dance floor and dance with any lady who will dance with me.
