My Toronto trip. HELLO STADIUM #21!

08/14/2013

This is my diary, there may be things in here you don't want to read. Skip over it.
I will apologize that I'm not spell checking or looking it over. I have only got 10 hours total in the last 3 nights.

My Toronto trip. HELLO STADIUM #21!

6:13 AM left house 3:48 intterogation 5:39 at hotel

We stopped at Duff’s in buffalo NY for lunch. Duf’s clame to fame is where “buffalo wings” was invented. (according to Rob)
I got a lunch basket of buffalo fingers and fries. It was good but defanately not the best.

We went through interrogation as we were asked “what are your names” “where are you sidicens of?” “how do you know each other” “what are you doing in Canada” “do you have any drugs, alcohol and fire arms” just to name a few of the questions.

We got to the hotel and crashed for a few hours. My best friend John and twin Justin both suggested I try to get Rob to take me to a strip club. I looked up and read reviews on a bunch of them. There was two that were pretty close to the hotel. I asked Rob if he would go to a strip club he said sure. I suggested the two that had very good ratings and he said no, I know where to go. It’s where (some of his friends and him went) the last time. I said ummok. He mentioned the name of the place and it wasn’t even listed on the rating site I went to.

We left the hotel and grabbed dinner at big smoky’s burger. They had a “spicy burger” that was good and I got fries with it, the fries were very very good. It taked like they were made there and it had the taste of the potato skin. Rob got a burger with rings. The rings were ok.

We went to this…strip club. It was small and when we sat down, we had to order a drink. Before we got there, I told Rob I didn’t want to drink anything. He said no problem, he would drink for me but when he ordered, he sked me what I wanted I told him I didn’t want anything he said you have to have something. I told him I didn’t know what I would want. He told the waitress to get me a shot of some type of vodka. And I had the drink in my hand not 3 minutes when these two dancers came over. Rob said he was here for the drinks and music but that I had the money. So they took me up to the booth… It was the worse experience I ever had at a strip club and I have been to a few. I wont say what happened, or what didn’t happen but I was furious. I wanted to leave after that but Rob said we just got here, chill out. He tried to get me to drink another but I told him no. He had 3 more drinks, we were there for over an hour and he kept deflecting the dancers from us. I’m thankful of that though but to sit in a place where you didn’t want to be, it seemed like it was forever.

We got back to the hotel about 11:30 He went to sleep pretty soon. I went on this blind gaming site I go to where you can chat with other blind people and play games like monopoly, blackjack, some dice games and bingo. I was feeling pretty low after the club so I wanted to talk to someone “myssery likes company” so I usually play vs the computer but I made the room public and this lady joined my room and I started the game. … 3 hours later, after learning that we had so much in common from our fav tv show, to being or on the way to being mental health counselors, to our fav football team, we talked about our relationship situations, which is somewhat but not really, similar and we were throwing song lyrics at each other. We had each other ROLF and we exchanged skype names and we would chat when I got back to Boston. OH and she asked if I had a Boston Accent. I replied “I Pahk my ca in the yad” she said she was laughing so hard. OH, her name is Krystle. I told her how Krystle was the name of the woman who is in my continuation dream and told her about the dreams as well.

Rob woke me, hmm or did I wake up on my own… hmm, either way, it was Tuesday, the day of the game and that we would do everything we planned (all two things, he has been to Toronto before so didn’t care to do anything ellse, even though he said he may take a walk down to where they were filming a movie, “you never know, it’s a small money movie, they could ask me to take a part in the movie and not just a stand by, they will ask me to do a starring role” umm rriigghhtt.

OH so he had to stay at the holiday inn express because he is a reward card member, so he got a bunch of points plus they had this amazing free breakfast. (according to him) well, we went down for breakfast, I don’t know if he doesn’t stay at other hotels or not, but it was no more amazing than any other place I’ve stayed at. They had the pancake maker, bacon in a covered warmer and other things. Although it was good, it wasn’t worth the money of the hotel.

We headed out about 10AM we went to the hockey hall of fame. Which, I have been to theother major sport halls and this one’s location was odd. Or at least I thought it was. It was connected to a mall and is housed in a bank from 150 years ago.

Rob knew who I knew for players and so he was reading the names of player’s memorabealures that I knew. Growing up, Wayne Gretzky was my fav player, and my twin’s fav player was Mario Limu. So I got a picture in front of their desplays. He read a bit of the history of hockey and of cominating of hockey games. There was jerseys, pucks and sticks from various teams and leagues that are common and those that are defunked. There was even a pro women’s hockey league at some point which they had some jerseys from.
Then was… a reprica of the standley cup which was on the top floor. It is set up so you could take a picture with the trophy. Rob took a pic of me with it. There was other trophies in the room but they were behind glass as they were the real ones. It seems as they give out trophies for every thing. I think the NHL hands out about 10 dif awards that had trophies to go along with them.
We spent about an hour there. We headed back, stopped at “tim horton’s” he’s a hockey player who played the last few years for Boston but was a free agent this summer and signed else where. I got a drink not sure what Rob got. Since I was tired from getting a little sleep, plus the game didn’t start till 7, I took a nap to refresh me. In themean time, Rob looked up a place we could go for dinner. We went to Wayne Gretzky’s bar and lounge. We left the hotel about 4, I had another burger and a field green salad that was very good. It had cramberies, nuts, along with the normal letis and hmm actually I don’t know what else, I was enjoying their house dressing too much. It was a maple balsonic.

From there, I was bouncing, actually I was bouncing as we came down the elevator to head to the restaurant but I was bouncing on my toes.

We went to the willcall window to pick up the tickets. From there we went into the Roger’s Center, formerly known as the Sky Dome. It didn’t feel like a stadium when I first went in. The floor was a finished floor, not contreat. We walked in and went down to the field side. Rob said David Ortiz was taking batting practice. I wanted to take a picture with the field in the background. So I did that and we came up a few rows and Rob said he wanted to take some pictures of the stadium. I went to go sit down in the first seat and he told me not to sit. I asked why? He said because I said so. …so I sat down. He took a few pictures and then we went to go find our seats. I thought we had better seats than what we had. Usually when you want into the field part of a baseball stadium, you can either go down to the field side-expensive seats or go up, to the cheaper seats. In this stadium, you are at the top of the lower bowl and you just want down. So our seats were directly behind home plate but it was way way up. It was behind all the seats. They’re handicap seats so it’s just two comfortable chairs they put behind the rows. It did make it easier to leave the stadium and for Rob who got up a bunch of times for food. Eventually there was two other people who sat next to us.

It felt a bit strange, to hear the American National not being first and not to hear the entire croud sing it and then to have the Canadian anthum being sung louder and most of the stadium singing along.
.
The Red Sox had Canada’ native from BC, Ryan Dempster pitching while the Blue Jays was forced to call up Todd Redmond, who was down in the minors and brought back to the magers to make his 6th mager league start.

It was a pitching duel. Dempster was getting outs quickly while Redmond was not so sufficient.
The Blue Jays scored a single run and the red sox score two. In the 8th, their catcher tied it up with a solo shot. The game eventually went into extra innings.
Hmm I don’t recall when this … play happened but I have to mention it. The blue Jays had a speedy guy at second. The next batter hit the ball deep to the wall. The speedy player tried to score from second but Shane Victorino through it all the way from the wall and threw a bulleye, as he cut the runner trying to score. He through it about 330 feet only bouncing once and the catcher grabbed the ball and tagged the runner out. It was an amazing play. It would have been the go ahead run for them.

Someone got a hit for the redsox in the 11th, Ellsberry hit a single and then stole 2nd with Victorino up. So now with two on in scoring position, he came through with a hit which scored both runs. Our closer came in to start the bottom of the 11th, he actually did get the last out
for the sox in the 10th inning. He was awesome and shut down the Jay’s in the 11th to give the Red Sox a win for me. It was beautiful
Red Sox 4 Blue Jays 2.

We got back to the hotel and it was a repete of the night before where Rob went to sleep pretty soon after we got back. I went back to the gaming site and that lady I had met the previous night, was on again. She told me she was having a bad day-night. It was a work issue and I talked to her about what she did and what she did was the right thing to do.. We shared more stories and song lyrics. It was fun.

SUNDAY

We woke up, showered and packed up. Went down for breakfast.
We checked out and then we were on our way home.

7:24 left hotel 9:04 past interrogation home 5:55 PM

Unfortunately, there was much conversations between me and him. Sometimes when he talks, it’s foolishly. Like he was telling me I should move to Toronto cause they have condows on sale across from the stadium. “all you would have to do is go sit on your portch and watch the game” …um, I don’t think so unless there’s a mirical. I said “did you forget I am blind?” … and a bunch of other random stupid comments.

Over all, I am thankful and I appreciate that he took me to the game but it was a trip, not a vacation and there was a lot of silents between us.

Stadium 21 is officially in the book.
Where will my next baseball stadium trip take me?
