When I was taking an advance graduate class in Child-adolescent psychology I made a great discovery for myself.
The way this class was set up was, you had to research and present a child-adolescent psychologist to the class that would last between 60-90 minutes. Along with this, you would have to pass in a 20 page paper and than a 1 page summery on each psychologist that was presented weekly.
I chose to do my presentation on someone my professor did not even have on his list, Melanie Klein who I read somewhere was a child psychologist.
In my research, I learn that not only was she, along with Ana Freud, the firsts to do child psychology but just like Ana and her father Sigmund Freud, was Jewish too. As the week pass, the various psychologist are being presented, I am taking notes for my weekly 1pg summery. Almost every week I hear “… was Jewish”. By the end of the semester, I looked back in my notes to discover that not only was Klein and the Freuds’ Jewish, but 9 of the 13 psychologist who were presented, were Jewish.
This revelation sparked me to say, “I can be the next great Jewish psychologist”
My presentation took up the entire class time of 2 hours and 20 minutes.
I handed in all my summaries on time and the 20 page paper. I received an A for the class.
