Staying Away From People Who Piss Me Off

01/11/2011

I've been known to be a person of great patience.  However, I think I am getting easily agitated nowadays.  Then again, anyone who has to live my life would probably have gone crazy by now.  Trust me, you have no idea.  From the common perspective of most people, I am taking a huge gamble with my life (although I don't see it that way).

Because of this "gamble", I've been in a position that's been stretching my patience for the last few years.  So much so that now it has gotten to a point where even little things irritate.

Today for example, I had a time slot between clients where I was able to do my laundry between clients.  The laundromat owner really pissed me off this time.  Real bad timing on his part, because I was just vowing to get away from as people-irritants in my life (especially because of the irritations of the last few days).  I am realizing that this continuous and constant state of irritation is distracting me and affecting my work performance.

Anyway I was doing laundry.  After wash, I placed my clothes in the dryer as usual and went back to the apartment to do some work.  When I went back to get my laundry, my clothes in one of the dryers was completely wet as if the machine never turned on.  (The dryer was on and running when I went back to the apartment.)  Now, I have to go to my next client!  I told the laundromat owner I placed four quarters in the dryer and it's still completely wet and cold.  He gives me this attitude.  He only placed 2 quarters in, and I definitely know that it won't be enough to dry my clothes.  I emphasized to him that I had put 4 quarters in.  He completely ignores me and walks away.   I didn't pursue it because I don't have time to stay that long anyway, thanks to his stupid machine.

What pissed me off is that he's acting as if I'm wrong and just walks away.  He also made no apologies.

When the machine stopped, my clothes are still half wet and I can't be any more late for my client.  I was 30 minutes late for my next client and I end up hanging my clothes around my apartment when I got back.

This jackass owner of the laundromat has no clue that he has lost more than me.  I spend at least $260 per year in his laundromat.  He's lost my business.  There's another laundromat that's not that much further away.  (I have notice that this jackass has not been as bad to customers since that other laundromat opened, but he's still a jackass.)

Also, I like to point out that I've seen him piss off other customers in the past.  Each customer is at least $260 per year, that adds up.  Let's say you piss of 3 customers per month and I am pretty sure he piss off more people than that.  That's a $9360 loss at least.  For a small mom and pop business, it's a significant amount (that could pay for 9 months rent).

Dude, keep pissing off your customers, but I choose not to be one of them anymore.  I vow to stay away from irritants like you and I certainly won't be paying money for it.  Good luck buddy, but I doubt you are staying in business for long.
