New feature: Messenger

how do you enable the taskbar?
I was just wondering about that, as I took it off when it came out...but I can't find how to put it back.

i might be wrong... but it seems to be listing peoples sign in names rather than their signiture names... thats not right is it? i thought they were supposed to stay private?

Stars may collide: Go to 'manage my diary', and on the default screen 'my diary' there is 'taskbar options'. Alternatively, copy and paste this link: http://www.bloopdiary.com/taskbar_options.php

.November.Butterfly.: It is displaying the URL you've chosen for your diary, not your sign in name. So it isn't violating any privacy settings, however I would agree that it would be preferable to display the signature name instead!


I like it Stevie yo, we do need privacy settings though, like I generally leave the laptop on all day, even if I go out!

IT DOESN'T LIST PEOPLE'S SIGN-IN NAMES. IT LISTS THE NAME YOU HAVE PUT IN YOUR URL. IF YOU HAVE USED YOUR SIGN-IN NAME FOR YOUR URL, YOU HAVE REVEALED IT ANYWAY!

I only knew it was displaying the URL because PUCK totally told me, yo! I hadn't even noticed myself

* Go to taskbar options to re-enable the taskbar.

* The name displayed at the moment is the user permalink, which is visible to anyone anyway.

i noticed this a few nights ago. Is there going to be an option to appear offline eventually? What about making it blink to notify you that there are new messages because right now when i switch pages unless i open the box again i have no way of knowing if i've received any messages from that person.

this is lovely & all, but bloop loads weird for me sometimes. sometimes it's all slow & it'll say, "Webpage not found". especially after commenting an entry.

@Wreck of the Day: You'll be able to switch the messenger feature off soon, so if it is affecting your browsing experience you'll be able to cancel the messenger out. What kind of internet connection are you using?
