Three years ago, I moved in with my boyfriend. We began to have problems and argue a lot. Once he hit me and I struck him back, but mostly it was just arguing and yelling. Finally, one day he told me to move out. I had nowhere to go, so I lied to my therapist and told her my boyfriend was abusing me in order to get into a women's shelter. I lied to my parents about my boyfriend, hoping to gain their help and sympathy, but I received none.

Now, my boyfriend and I have worked things out and we've been back together for two years. Things have been wonderful. He wants me to move in with him again, and I think it could work this time because we've both matured. However, the problem is I'd have to come clean to my parents and I am terrified. They don't know I've been with him these past two years, they don't know I lied to them. I am scared about what their reactions will be....

Uh, your parents didn't give you any help or sympathy when you were basically out on your ass (and as far as they're aware, abused) and they did NOTHING.

Fuck what your parents think. I wouldn't even be talking to them.

I agree with Jess on this one. They didn't help you or care when they thought you had been abused and you were homeless. Who cares what they think now?

You still were abused, even if he only hit you once. You weren't really lying.

Parents are supposed to be there for you, and love you, no matter what. You were homeless and they didn't help you in any way. I wouldn't even care about what they say or think. Fuck them. It's your life, do what you want.

If he's hit you once, he'll do it again!

I agree with The Ryan. I would just tell your parents the truth: he did hit you once, but he didn't abuse you as much as you said, you just wanted some help. They will likely tell you to, next time, just ask for it. Come clean, your conscience will love you for it.
