I work in retail. We have motorized shopping carts in our store meant for handicapped customers that all of the associates have started calling 'fat carts' because the over weight people jump on them as soon as they get through the door while the handicapped people are left limping behind them. I understand that sometimes people cant help their weight, but it infuriates me when they don't even try. When I see overweight people riding around on those carts, I want to grab them by the back of the neck, throw them on the floor, and give the cart to a customer that REALLY needs it (and usually there are a few, but there are no carts left for them). I truly do despise our disgusting customers.

Well, not everyone can. For example, *clears throat* people with PCOS. I have PCOS but it was diagnosed at 14 so I never really got it too bad. But some women who don't find out until they're in their 20s/30s get effing HUGE, and there really is very little they can do about it until some doctor puts them on either the pill or Metformin. Speech over!

This made me lol. Even the energizer bunny can't tote her heavy ass around that long...It just keeps going & going & going & going until....bamm big fat ass lady comes to put a stop to it. 
I understand what you're saying and I'm sure many people use them because they are too large to move around on their own. At the same time, I have a friend who is quite large who is currently recovering from achilles tendon surgery PLUS has a crushed foot (opposite foot from the surgery). She refuses to use a cart (even though she SHOULD because she's supposed to be non-weight bearing) because she doesn't want to be judged in the way that you have just posted. I judge too and I'm a large person (but I don't use the carts). I can get around just fine on my own. All I'm saying is that there might be some extenuating circumstance to the large people using the carts other than the fact that they are large.
I was tempted to use one was I was close to the end of my pregnancy because my feet hurt so bad and were swelling, but I didn't. I would have felt guilt. I agree with this entry though.
