Sometimes when people lose someone they're really close to, or some other traumatic event happens to them, they just go completely numb inside for a while... Kind of like being in shock. Eventually, it hits them, and they breakdown (unfortunately it's usually worse than it would be for someone who was able to let it out all along).

Either that, or you DIDN'T feel really close to him, so you don't feel as if you've lost anyone close to you at all.

Either way, it doesn't make you a bad person. The first situation is relatively common, and the second... Well, not everyone knows how to be a good parent. In fact, some are down right BAD parents, or just bad people in general. Not saying that that was the case in your situation, but if it was, you're not expected to feel love toward someone that may or may not have treated you poorly just because they hold the title of 'parent'. I'm sure you're not a bad person

this is normal in my opinion. when my dad died, it took me like a year to finally cry about it.

its normal. an ex co-worker of mines' sister didnt cry for 2 years after her mom died!! my grandma died nearly a year ago and i have yet to cry but then again she wasnt nice to me.

i cried sooooo hard for my pet when he died. but i haven't cried for a single person's death. in my eyes, i look at it as humans are privileged creatures. we get to wander this earth and do almost anything. my human relatives have lived their life (regardless of how long or short) but my cat--- i was in charge of him. he wasn't mean/cruel to anyone. all he wanted was to be fed and petted. and now they are gone. something so innocent and pure is now gone.

no. you aren't a bad person. or, if you are, i am too.

I am in a similar position. I am yet to cry about my Grandad passing on which was a month ago. I feel like if I start crying, I'm never going to stop. xXx

I don't think you're a horrible person. I think sometimes we completely block our feelings off in situations like that, and don't allow it to hurt us enough to break us.

My grandfather died a year ago. I still haven't cried yet. Maybe we're numb?
