| I love books, and wouldn't dream of marking up someone else's, or one from a library. The other day my kindergartner came home with a Spiderman book from the school library. Each page had a cartoon-like illustration of a villain on it. On one page, in the background, there was a lady tied up who was dressed very scantily. It's so wrong for a children's book to be promoting the objectification of women, especially now, with rape culture being what it is. #metoo . So I took a black sharpie and gave her a dress. She's back in the shadows of the page and isn't really noticeable, but I still feel bad that I did it. |
