It's November, so you all know what time that is. It's NOJOMO time! I'll be participating again this year obviously.
So yesterday was Halloween. We all went to Spencer's class party. We got
in and Spencer was at the Science Center sorting leaves by color, then
he went off to make a construction paper jack-o-lantern. The teacher and assistants encouraged Vivian to join in on all the activities, so
she sat at a different table, and helped sort out Pumpkin seeds. We had
to convince her not to eat the raw Pumpkin seeds and guts. After that we
went to the drawing table and helped Spencer trace a pumpkin, draw a
face, then both kids colored it. Vivian was thrilled since she loves to
color. After that we helped Spencer change into his costume, then
everyone went on a little parade through the school, came back to the
classroom, ate snacks, then went home.
After we got home, we all took a nap. We got up and fed the kids dinner.
Then we helped them all put on their costumes. It was cold out the weather channel said it was 41 but felt like 29 and I believed it. The day was gray,
chilly, and gloomy and lightly sprinkling, but we decided to give trick
or treating a shot anyway. I made the older two kids wear long pants,
long sleeved shirt, a fleece hoodie, then their costumes which were made
of heavy materials. I stuck Grant in a long sleeved onesie and socks
underneath his (pants would've added too much bulk) and bundled him up
in a blanket.
We decided to hit Caribou Coffee first since they were having a buy one
get one free deal, then we headed to another neighborhood to trick or
treat, since there is no trick or treating in our neighborhood. We
called the local police department ahead of time to find out where we
could park and to find out some good streets to hit.
So we got there, parked the car along the side of the street. The street was long and practically every
house was giving away candy, so we went up one side, and then came back
down the other side. The kids had a blast. At first Vivian wanted to
ride in the stroller but we convinced her to walk the entire time. The
kids got a ton of candy because there weren't a lot of other kids out
and they were giving the stuff away by the handful. It took us an hour
to go up and down the street, and by that point we were cold, and the
kids had more than enough so we called it a night. We got home at 8,
took pictures, let the kids eat a little bit of candy then put them in
their pajamas. They didn't wind up going to bed until 8:45 and didn't
fall asleep until around 9:30. Then David made us some Spaghetti and
Garlic Breadsticks, so we ate that then went to bed. And now pictures!
Spencer as Cookie Monster!
Vivian the Owl (She looks slightly demented in this one, ok maybe more than slightly)
And last but not least, Grant the Penguin! (Excuse the baby food he had just gotten done eating Sweet Potatoes)
Vivian wearing creepy glasses, Spencer's teacher gave out as party favors.
Grant hamming it up for the camera.
