Paper Heart - Tyler Ward. <3
I'm trying to keep my promise! Once a week (not exactly a week apart, but it works), I'm going to update! (: So, I came back to school on Saturday and there was just me, Jordyn, Alex, Tyler, Jacob, Ben, Brendan and our new RA. It was really weird to be back - it seemed so
different. And Jordyn and I brought SO much stuff back, that it basically felt like we were
re-moving in. -Sigh- Moving out is going to be hell, lmao.
Anyway, on Saturday Tyler and Alex played COD out in the lounge basically all night and I watched, we talked about our breaks, we played euchre (Alex and I have a
2-0 streak right now!
) and just relaxed. Surprisingly, we called it in early. The next day, pretty much everyone else was coming back. I woke up at like, 12:30 and made my way to the lounge. Caught up with people I hadn't talked to yet and then grabbed lunch with Alex and Tyler. Jordyn was at her sorority retreat all day, so I was by myself in the dorm - which I hateeee. So, I just chilled out in the lounge and greeted everyone as they came back. We went to Brian's books around 4:30 to get our books for classes and mine ended up being like,
$40 more than I was expecting them to be. ): Boooo. Then we all played games and complained about how much we
didn'twant classes to start.
I'm taking 16 credit hours, and my schedule is like this:
Monday and Wednesday: Elementary Arabic II (Ara 102) @ 4:00-4:50
Tuesday and Thursday: Intro To Communications (Com 101) @ 10:00-11:15, Intro To Creative Writing (Wrt 219) @ 11:30-12:45, Speech (Com 201) @ 2:30-3:45 and Elementary Arabic II (Ara 102) @ 4:00-4:50
Friday: Image and Sound Lab (Cfv 124) @ 10:00-11:50 and Image and Sound Lecture (Cfv 124) @ 12:00-3:50
So, Monday was a really easy day. Arabic is in the
closest building and it's so much fun! I have a new professor this semester and she's absolutely wonderful! Dr. Maisel, who I had last semester, was an absolute genius. Fantastic teacher, amazing guy, hilarious. Loved him. I now have Professor Chakir and she is really funny, her teaching methods are more hands on and she's really nice! So, I'm happy with that. Yesterday was my
first taste of hell. I have Com 101 with Jordyn, and the professor is nice, but he tries to force discussion when it's just not happening (he'll ask the class what we think, and then stand there and stare at us until someone talks - he won't try and facilitate discussion or keep it going or anything). And then there was this kid who started talking about how if you don't believe your hand is there, then it
doesn't exist and tiger girl, who was talking about how if a person believes they are a tiger, then they are a tiger. I don't know. It was very strange. 0.o
After that, I went to creative writing. I'm going to
love. this. class. so. freaking. much! It's exactly what I want to do, but it's going to be really difficult. It's all based off of critique pretty much, so it's learning how to separate yourself from your writing. It's going to be
rough, for sure. But absolutely rewarding, nonetheless. Then Jordyn and I got lunch and Fresh and headed to our speech class, which we have with our RA Brendan. The instructor Frank Boring is
one of the most arrogant douches I've ever encountered in my entire life, and he's proud to announce it. But he knows his stuff and is for sure going to teach us a lot this semester. But I don't think that a lot of those people are going to be there tomorrow. I had Arabic after that, and it was normal. (:
All I had today was
Arabic, and now I need to go read for Speech. I'll update again next week and fill you in on how Film went and how my other classes are going!
xoxo
Brittney!
