That is so awesome about getting to study in Jordan and visit Lebanon. Also, I read you met a fellow Blooper =] Hope to see update with more details and pics!
Shokran! =]
I'm going to be totally free this week. Except for a couple of shopping trips and hang outs with friends. I'll be waiting for your text. =]
I hope the weather isn't killing you because it's killing me. =P and we have to meet up! I know all the best food places. xD
Here's my number 079-575-6166 text me or something so we can be in touch. I'm going through the busiest 2 weeks of my life right now but I'll be done with everything on the 26th.
Oh I know what you mean about the plane ride! I suffered on my way to Canada. You should make sure you're sleep-deprived before you get on the plane, get a window seat and sleep for most of the way. =P Gotta love how on your first time going overseas you're travelling half the way across the world.
Don't be nervous. Just be prepared for annoying guys coz in Jordan you can't walk down the street without hearing cat calls from almost half the guys around lol Just ignore and walk on. They're friendly. =P
This semester ends May 31st so you'll see people freaking out about finals the first couple of weeks of your stay then it will be dead because we have a break until around June 20th before the summer semester starts for those who decide to take it. =]
Lebanon is so beautiful! I've only been there once but I loved it. I can imagine how excited you must be!
I didn't get the last bit about where you'll be staying. You must've typed it in Arabic and Bloop turned it into some weird symbols. Try typing it again. Or type it in English letters.
I study at UJ but I won't have classes during the summer. The campus is about 10 minutes away from where I live though. =] During which month will you be there?
Ryc; Shoot, come to Powerhouse with me! You'll feel comfortable, it's mainly big juicehead guys who are so into their own work out they don't even notice you exist.
What the heck! That's the most ridiculous diet I've ever heard of! Lots of water and exercize should do the trick for you. Forget Drs I'm sure you can do it on your own =]
You already have your fall and winter schedules? We don't even find out what classes/times they're gonna be offering for the semester until a month before they actually start! =P
Be careful at Planet Fitness. Their advertisements and actual rates aren't the same. I sat down with someone when I was looking for a gym and they were going to charge me a $50 dollar start up fee, $15 a month and then a cancellation fee of like $30-40 dollars just to go for the summer. I'm at Powerhouse now, it was a straight fee of $79 for 3 months and I absolutely love it there. Just be careful, those Planet Fitness people seemed shady to me. But good look on your weight loss, I know you can do it. You're a strong girl <3
I 'm glad you decided what you really want to major in. =] It took me my first year at university to realize what I really wanted to study. I lost about 10 credit hours but it wasn't too bad and I caught up pretty quickly =]
Stop beating yourself up about the trip I'm sure you'll get another chance to study abroad. =] I saw a bunch of new American students being given a tour on campus yesterday. It was weird coz we all have finals and they're just arriving.
Ah I hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your time off before you get busy again! =]
Oh keep learning the Lebanese dialect. It's like the cutest dialect for a female to speak. Or at least most guys here think so because it's way more feminine than most other Arab dialects. =P Are your grandparents Lebanese? and which dialect are your professors teaching you? Some of the girls I know learned Egyptian Arabic which was fine coz everyone understands the Egyptian dialect but a few of them learned moroccan Arabic which pretty much sounds like a foreign language to us so they regretted it.
That's great =] They only teach you the formal Fus-ha Arabic over there right? coz the poor students who come here always feel like tearing their hair out because conversational Arabic is so different. The good thing though is that Jordanian Arabic is the closest there is to Formal Arabic.
oh wait I just realized that 6 weeks is way shorter than the program I'm talking about which is 3 months so it must be different. In any case, I'm sure it'll be just as fun if you got to do it
I study at the university of Jordan =] I think you might be talking about the same program I'm talking about. The American students study conversational Arabic as well as Formal Arabic and their choice of class like Middle Eastern studies or anything similar. They can choose to live in apartments or stay with a Jordanian family for the semester. I actually participate with this program as a peer tutor. I help by befriending the student I'm assigned to and babbling away in Arabic with her! Fun right? =P
You should totally do it! Which organization were you gonna go with? Most of those who come here to study Arabic for a semester do that through their own university with a program with the CIEE. The CIEE then brings them all to my university. They all describe the experience as the best they've ever had! =] I hope you do get a chance to do it!
I know when you're on your period, you're pretty much just like FUCK EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE ELSE but I know you're going to do amazing! You're so smart, Brit and you know what...fuck your body. Make it your bitch. Tell it that it has to suck up just this once. You deal with it's shit every month and this time, it's your turn. You are going to ace your finals and go home and look on the bright side..you're getting all the horrible shit out of the way now so that way when you go home, you'll have another 28 days to worry about your period and can just relax and focus on being home Good luck, luff you <3
