I'm gonna take this moment that I'm in right now, stop this craziness somehow. <3
Holy crap, bloop! Long time no talk, eh?! I'm always on here, checking for updates from other people, and yet, I can
never bring myself to update this thing myself. I've decided, as one of my new years resolutions, to try and document
as much of my life as possible this year. My goal is to do at least
one update a week. Which doesn't seem like too far of a stretch. And what better way to do it than bloop? If the one update a week
doesn't work, I'll try bi-weekly updates! Anyway, I turned 18 this year in November. And.. dang. A lot has happened since I updated in March. 0.o Okay, here's a general synopsis of what happened between March and today:
*I went to California in April and had the time of my life. We stayed in Aliso Viejo and I got to see the ocean for the first time. It was an absolutely amazing experience and I'd go back in a heartbeat.
*I finished off my senior year of high school, graduating 52nd in my class of 364 with cum laude honors (3.61 overall GPA)
*I had the summer of my life, spending all but 4 days with my friend Alyssa and balancing a new group of friends with my current group. I ended up meshing the two together. It works. (:
*Got a 3 on the AP English Lit Exam, and a
2 on the AP Physics B Exam. Boo tests that and universal mind fucks. ):
*Graduation party at the end of July - made $2,500 and bought a new laptop with it. Which is what I'm currently on right now. I'm still in love. <3
*Said farewell to friends as we started dispersing for college.
*Left Southgate and moved to Allendale on August 24th. One of the hardest days of my life.
*Spent the next few months adjusting beautifully, living with my best friend Jordyn in our wonderful dorm and taking World Literature, Arabic 101, Chemistry, Women and Gender Studies and Ethics in my first semester of college.
*I got my second tattoo on November 20th, after I turned 18 ten days prior. It was the first thing I did as a legal adult! (I'll put a picture at the end!)
*Finished my first semester of college with a 3.075 GPA, 20 credit hours under my belt (16 from the semester, and 4 from AP credit) and a better understanding of how I function without my parents.
*I got a video camera for Christmas, and I cannot wait to use it!
*Spent New Years with Jordyn, Alyssa and Mike and I had a blast. (: Bean dip was gone in record time.
So, yeah. That was the past 9 months of my life in a nutshell! Haha. I need to describe/show pictures of mine and Jordyn's dorm room! We live in a wonderful freshman dorm. I know what you're thinking - how great can
freshman dorms actually be? Well, to answer your question,
amaaaazing! We have a 2-bedroom apartment-style dorm which comes equipped with a kitchen and a bathroom for just the two of us to share. It's kind of wonderful. (: Sure, it's not the biggest space ever, but
definitely a TON bigger than other freshman dorms! I'll throw up some pictures at the end of this entry!
And with this style of dorms, we were expecting everyone to lock themselves up in their rooms with so much space and privacy. But, my floor is so brilliantly wonderful! We always hang out in the commons, and I'm really close to a ton of people now. We play euchre, board games, improv games, theater games, video games, anything else we can think of, go on crazy runs at 4 AM, and we're just one really tight-knit family! I love them so much, and I really couldn't have asked for a better floor. <3
College itself is absolutely
amazing. I'm a Film and Video major and a creative writing minor, and I'm taking my first film class (Image and Sound) this upcoming semester! I'm super stoked about it. I'm also taking Intro to Communications, Speech (another com class), Arabic 102 and Intro to Creative Writing - which is the class that I think I'm the
most excited for, even though it's for my minor. I've been really excited to truly hone in on my writing and refine my skill as much as possible. Last semester was filled with
boring gen ed classes that I really wasn't looking forward to taking (even though a few of them were really good classes!), and this semester is a full work load but it's a ton of classes that I'm truly interested in! It's
going to be a blast. I've been home since December 15th, and I'm heading back up to school on January 8th. Classes start back up on the 10th. I'm really pumped to go back and see everyone, but being home made me realize how much I've actually missed it. 3
I feel as if this was a quite lack-luster update for having so much time in between the previous one and this one, but I promise, you will be informed more often!
Until next time, Bloop!
xoxo
