Comments like these by a man who proclaims himself to be a Christian, are why so many people dislike Christianity.
Watch, then if you care to read what I have to say
I have always been brought up to believe that being a Christian means being compassionate, loving, and to carry a desire to foster good things in the world.
Now I am by no means saying that I am some GREAT CHRISTIAN because I am not. I harbor ill feelings, I even come very very VERY close to hating a few individuals, but on a good day, I am a good person.
I try to pray when asked, compliment and encourage.
Pat Robertson had a GRAND opportunity here. He could have said "God is giving the world a chance to heal itself, to show compassion towards our fellow human beings and to remember what it is like to serve another in a way that expects no recompence other than the knowledge you can make a difference"
or something of the sort.
Instead he spouts horrible hate-filled remarks, in doing so encourages a further divide between those who see themselves as "worthy" against those who are deemed "unworthy" by the same group.
Why does he feel the need to spit in the face of what the teachings of Jesus were? Jesus' teachings were full of how to have compassion for your fellow man.
If you are going to call yourself a Christian Mr. Robertson, maybe you should try to not hate, blame and persecute others and rather show them love, understanding and hope. |
